Here is a debate, I wont it nice a clean with explained answers, and not ones like this "They do it because they are n00bs/newbs/pivfags/trolls/spammers/faggots/fags/anything else the you can think of.

Anyway, I have noticed recently that a lot of really old threads, have been bumped, and the stuff on the first page has been commented on or flamed. This is by people with generally less then 50 posts. So why the **** do they do this?

Debate on why people bump really old stuff and comment on the oldest works possible.

Maybe because they think that old things are still relevant. They ignore the dates and still think the topic is just as alive either from experience from other forums, or because they don't know any better. That's my hypothesis. :3

I guess they are interested in the topic and want to voice their opinions. Or they don't know the date because they think the little white numbers above people's usernames are just there for decoration.

They are unfamiliar with the general etiquette of forums. They'll use the search feature or something to find a topic they're interested in and post in it, unaware that the thread died years ago, simply because they haven't used forums before and don't know how things work.

That's the best explanation I can think of.

They're new, they search a topic, they reply, I don't see why anyone cares if it's old as long as they post on topic.

I also think some of them does it to get twenty posts fast. They post in threads that's not on the first page thinking that no one will see it, not knowing that it will automatically get to the top.

Yeah, I was about to say that.

They either do it because they don't understand dates and/or forums, or they want some "legit" posts fast.

Maybe they don't understand that it IS old, they just think it's a forum. OR it could be that they want to be in the crowd because if it is old, it has a lot of posts. Would that make sense? OR it could be just the way the brain works, that they should go to the oldest...
