I'm surprised there wasn't a thread for Diablo already, but here goes!



Anybody by chance playing? I'm finding it pretty fun right now, but there are a lot of people criticizing it; Mainly just comparing it to Diablo 2.

i have the money for it but am waiting until wednesday to buy it. why? because i have a shitton of assignments, that's why.

i expect to finish the game by thursday though

biggest let down fucking ever.
blizzard should've rehired the cast from blizzard north to make diablo III. i was anticipating a nice game, but they made it too much like WoW. they also fucked up the story a bit.
not to mention, the gameplay has changed in regards to the skill system, the stat system, mana/health system, monk is OP as fuck, and diablo is a bitch in this. the fuck, dawg? the game left a lot to be desired, especially after 11 years of fucking WAITING FOR THE GOD DAMN GAME. FUCKING RAAAAAAAAAAAGE. the game also lost it's gothic architecture touch. in fact, the game doesn't feel like diablo period. the music is too different, and the game just doesn't feel "dark" like the others, if you catch my drift.

so... you were hoping for a clone of diablo 2, with better graphics?

fuck that shit. you're comparing it too much to an ancient classic that can't be beaten. think of it as a totally new game.

no, i'm not gonna think of it as a totally new game. 2-D brought up a good point, it's a new game within a SERIES of games. it's supposed to be like the others.

Yeah i lost you here. Monks are the second worst class on inferno and diablo is far too easy on all difficulties but inferno.

I really do hate people comparing Diablo 3 to Diablo 2; they always list a page of things they don't like about diablo 3, when most of them are just things that aren't even a problem, then fall back to 'Oh it's got online DRM it's a bad game' .. they just want it to be the same as their precious childhood Diablo 2.

I agree the game could use improvements, the hacking is a real problem. I was hacked earlier on too; luckily enough I managed to get all my gear back through the ticket system so that's all good. Another problem i foresee is there is no gearsink, the economy will be completely fucked over in a couple of months. Which is why i might start playing Hardcore mode.

Either way it's a nice distraction from revising... fucckkkk

it's diablo 3 in that it continues the story from diablo 1 and 2. the game still keeps everything that makes diablo diablo... only a few things have changed, and i'm happy about these changes because it would have been stupid to leave an ancient system in tact.

do you think diablo 2 would have been anywhere near as awesome if they said "well, diablo 1 was a huge success! let's make the next game exactly like it!"? no it bloody well wouldn't have, the skill system in diablo 1 was fucking weird and the game had way too much of a learning curve. diablo 2 was so much better because they weren't afraid to change a few things, while leaving the core gameplay as it is.

for example, just as in diablo 2 in compared to diablo 1, the skill system in diablo 2 is very limited compared to diablo 3's. i loved the old skill system, but all you could really do was get one or two skills you intend to use, and then spend the entire game improving them marginally each level... now in diablo 3, we actually earn almost a completely new skill (or at least, a new effect for each skill) each level, which is much more rewarding in my opinion.

if they had left it the way it was, i'd still be playing and enjoying diablo 3... but i don't think it would be anywhere near as fun because it's the same old shit all over again. which would be especially bad considering the number of times i've played through diablo 2.

i've figured out my issue with this game.

all my good times are based around diablo II, growing up, yada yada, etc.
i was expecting diablo III to be like diablo II so it would bring back that same feeling, only with a new touch, but it wasn't. diablo III isn't a terrible game, but it's not for me.
