Fun trick with them: The sting is done by hairs which all point the same way. If you rub the nettle leaf from the stem towards you it won't sting, and if you do that a few times reasonably firmly it will break all the hairs and take away the sting. Then you can show your friends how manly you are and stick pre-prepared nettles down your trousers or in your mouth or whatever.

You guys should come to Australia and get yourselves stung by some Box Jellyfish. Fun times indeed.

Oh, heeeeeeeeck no. Have actually been stung by one? I've heard several times on animal planet that box jellyfish are the most poisonous animal in the world!

But yes, they are the most lethal organism on the planet from what I know of.

Box jellyfish will fuck your shit.

We also get blue-bottle jellyfish (also called Portuguese man o' war). They aren't actually jellyfish, but a combination of smaller organisms. However they are creepy as hell. At times you will see douzens washed up on the beach, and a couple in the water. If I see one I shit bricks and bail.

Just when I was 5/6 I got stung by... A black bee? Well it was a flying bug afaik. Stung me on the arm when I wasn't looking, HURT LIKE HELL.

some of the skin (the meaty kind, not the transparent kind) on my middle finger got chopped off from a fucking crab. i cried for hours and then i crushed that crab since it stayed on the beach for some reason.

worst single sting? Ground wasp left a star shaped scar on my ankle, I guess I was allergic to them.
