Why would you buy a tablet if you don't think you need one?

Jombo is right. Tablets equals comfort not automatically better. But since you asked, I use a Wacom Bamboo and here http://obi-revolution.deviantart.com/gallery/?offset=24#/d2v8ato
I'll tell you that tablets make particles and effects a lot easier because it feels more natural to draw them than use your mouse, but it's not that hard to get used to using your mouse for everything. It just takes time.

See, what I'd do is use your mouse for animating stick figures and use the tablet to animate effects, like particles, water, lightning, blood, ect..

I use an old wacom graphire3, which I only recently got. all of my old animations are done 100% with mouse, but I feel a tablet gives you a few key advantages. comfort, pressure sensitivity, and it can better represent your actual drawing skills. they are not the end-all, but if you have one... by all means use it!
here's one of my latest tablet animations:

I used the tablet for every aspect here. the sticks, the background, the effects; all of it.
