Hi everyone, I'm still learning how to paint those stick figures (XiaoXiao style) and how to animate them in adobe flash, searched alot, didn't find any good threads which could help me :C

Is there some kind of a guide in this forum about how to create them?

And what's the best way to animate them? Are there any tools which makes it easier to do that? Or just frameclick -> moving the leg a bit -> moving the arm -> ...?

you need to draw the body with the line tool, and animate it frame by frame (as in, draw it once, press f7, redraw it in a new position). then you need add a head on a new layer (its easier that way).

so dont animate the head with the body, wait till youve finished animating the body, then create a new layer, draw a head. select the head and press f8, make it a graphic, and then press f6 and move it into its new position every frame.

" just frameclick -> moving the leg a bit -> moving the arm -> ...? "

And you don't move the limbs, you redraw them in a slightly different position. That means basic stickfigure animating.

Thanks for your fast help!

To redrawing the body: Is there any way to keep the length of the legs/arms/body or do I have to save them into my libary? 'Cause right now I'm having problems animating it, it just looks like my stick figure gets bigger and smaller again every frame, and when I just see that stick movies, I can't believe they can keep the length of arms/such all the time.

get the grid up (its either ctrl+# or shift+# , i cant remember which one). that makes a grid pop up meaning you can keep the body the same height.

e.g you could use 1 square for the body, 1.5 squares for the legs, and just have the arms down to about the waist of the stick. thats just an example, since i dont know proportions cuz i dont have flash open, that would probably look like a horrible stick figure, but you get the idea...

That or rather than using the grid, you can draw your initial stick figure, and then draw horizontal hairlines on another layer where his legs, knees, head, etc. should be, then lock that layer.
