Hey, I find it sorta awkward when someone on this forum ask me my age, because I am a young animator, and sometimes you get disrespect if you are too young somewhere. I don't want to be treated different because of my age, I want to be treated the same as all other forum members. And the thing I want to know is, what age is too young for the forum? How young is it that a member shouldn't be on here? I am not as immature as a lot of people my age, so it's not like I'm an immature dumbass. Just, say your word, I mean, this is the debate forum... SO LET THERE BE DEBATING!!!

But you aren't the same as other members.

EDIT: Based on your usertitle, location, etc. you actually do seem pretty immature.

well, I may not be as experienced or advanced in animating as some of the other members, but I don't want to be treated like a kid either. That is what you meant, right?

He wasn't talking about animating. He's talking about you as a person.

I don't particularly care about age - I joined this forum when I was 11. What's more important is how you speak and act. What I see a lot is that young people will go onto these forums without any idea of how to maturely interact with other members, and end up making idiots of themselves. There is a direct link between someone's age and the probability of being immature, but that doesn't mean people of a certain age shouldn't be on the forums. I know that several members (such as Shanto when he first joined) are quite young but are still able to interact with older members perfectly well. On the flipside, plenty of slightly older members are just as immature.

In my opinion, people on stickpage don't treat you differently because of your age alone.

Emotional and social maturity is more important than age.

I agree with Myself.

Different people develop differently at different times.
I remember a particularly cool youngster joining a couple years back, AlphaCentaurus anyone?

they should be 10-13, and once they reach 14, execution.

Quote from Jombo
Even if someone's never told anyone about their age before, people can still probably guess somewhere near their age by their posts, so it's more of a matter of how you act rather than how old you actually are. I tell people that I'm 11 and almost all the time they say "no you're not". Which is a shame because I am. :(

no you're not (are you really?)

I remember arguing with zawmbee because he wouldn't believe that I'm not 22. I actually expect people my age to act stupid as fuck online because the majority tend to, but there are definitely people who don't. I agree with Alpha, but I tend to not respect a child online until they prove that they're not a typical spastic retard kid, but with an adult, I already expect them to be mildly decent until they prove otherwise. It doesn't take much, though. A single grammatically-correct sentence stating that you're 11 years old will have me respecting you more than an adult who posts multiple exclamation marks after a question or some shit.

I really don't think that there's an upper or lower bound on how old you should be on a forum like this. I find that I almost never identify people on forums with how old they physically are, and just go by how mature they act. Since it's just text, all I have to go on is how people talk, so I make judgements based on that. I don't mind it if there are younger or older people in a community--that's what makes a community more diverse, what with a wider range of experience.

There really isn't a lot I can say without repeating things the above posts have said, since I agree on every count. If you can speak like a proper human being, then people will respect you as a proper human being. If you speak like you smashed your head on a keyboard and deleted every other letter, then people will respect you about as much as they would respect someone who smashes their head on a keyboard.

Maturity - Important

What he said ^

you shouldn't even really need to state your age if you're mature enough. Nobody should care unless you're acting immature.

I'd say age matters when you consider life experience and how that impacts your overall maturity. 11-15 year olds have likely never worked a day in their lives, they have zero knowledge of what the "real world" is like. 16-18 year olds are usually arrogant and think they know everything, but their lives still consist of high school and maybe a part time job. Life experience always translates to maturity, and there's no realistic way some 12 year old kid could act as maturely as someone like me around here.

Does most of that show on a day-to-day basis on a forum like this? I notice it sometimes, especially in the debate section, but generally it doesn't matter. As long as you have good grammar and genuinely try to contribute here, no one should give a shit about your age.

Whenever I see a retarded fuck on the forums I generally wonder what age they are, because a young age would make sense, anything above the teen years makes me think about my hope in humanity.
Either way, I agree with everyone.
Age is didly-shit when compared to maturity in importance.

I agree with Sacred. Since on Stickpage age is just a number.
