What to do: The idea of this tiny itty bitty collab (12 people) is that there is a room with 2 doors on either side, and a box in the center (which is the starting position of the gun). You need to animate a character of any color entering from either side in any manner, then acquire the gun (11 of the people will pick it up from where the previous person left it), then most likely you'll have some kind of enemy/enemies come in also from one of the doors. During your part, you get to fire 1 bullet, use it wisely, and use it creatively, that's what's going to make this fun to watch! after you use your one bullet, you don't need to put the gun down, but you cannot fire it more than once. After you're done doing whatever you're going to do, exit out one of the 2 doors, and leave the gun somewhere in the room

When you comment, tell me what version of Flash you'll be using!!
Program: I have Flash 8 and CS5, so you can use anything below CS5.5 it just means people who have higher versions will have to go last because you can only go up in versions when converting .fla files since we are passing this file about.

FPS: 30

Dimensions: 600x350

Sound Effects: I highly recomend adding your own sound effects, but if you don't, I'll add some good sounding sounds to your part.

Music: No, none of that. I'll add music at the end.

Vcam: I put a Vcam in the file, it's the exact size of the stage (600x350), it currently rests at 0,0. The only thing I put it there for was so that you could use it to show camera shake, if you do choose to use it for that, make sure it goes back to the exact same position at the end of your part. For anyone thinking it, no pans, no skews, no zooms, no rotations, and no deletion of the vcam!

Length: 5-20 seconds

3D Angles: these are ok, as long as you're comfortable with redrawing the detail level I drew in the normal background for whatever angle you're trying to do. Also, make sure at the end of your part you have it go back to just being the background where it was.

Don't put your name in the frame, I'll put everyone at the end!

Symbols: To stay organized, keep all the symbols you use in your part in a folder named your (stickpage) name in the library. Naming your symbols is not necessary, because since we'll all be working with the same file we wont have to worry about any symbols being named the same thing, cause it wouldn't let you create it in the first place.

Sounds: I made a folder in the timeline called "ALL SOUNDS" it's at the top, and that's where it's going to stay, any sound effects go on a layer in that folder. All your sounds should be on the "stream" setting, not "event".
Don't add a gunshot sound coming from the pistol, if you do, I'm going to take out your sound and replace it with the one I'm using for the pistol.

Your layers: Try to keep your number of layers minimal, and if possible, use layers that already existed to serve a purpose for someone else earlier in the animation and are now blank so as to keep things neat and file size down. Make all your layers of animating above the layers "Outline", "Background", "Box", and below "Doorway Cover", "Camera", and "ALL SOUNDS". IMPORTANT: if there comes a point in your animation where an element need to stay where it rests for the duration of the animation (for example, a blood stain, or dead enemy, or bullet hole, severed arm, whatever!) this is what you do to be sure it doesn't get deleted: For the layer name, write in all caps "THIS STAYS" so, everyone who participates after you will leave that layer alone, except for extending the frames out to the end of their animation. basically, any layer that says "THIS STAYS" should show it's contents from where it starts having keyframes until the collab is over.

General: Don't change any of the document settings.
Right now, the .fla is called 12, when the first person finishes their part they will name it 1, when the second person finishes, they'll name it 2, and so on until we get back to 12.
I made the "outline" layer so you could make evrything invisible except for it to make it easier to animate without being distracted.
I drew a stick figure off to the left to get the size of yours about right
When you finish your part send me the .fla via PM, I'll get it to the next person.

Overlap: we're dealing with a joint, so plan for overlap, when I say that, I mean, the beginning of your part might be animated when the previous person's part is still wrapping up. you can see this in other joint, I don't know how in touch th 12 of you will be, but, if you see someone ended their animation by throwing the gun in the air then runnning out, make haste to have your character grab it and start using it from there!

The gun: The gun isn't one symbol, right now it's just a dark grey looking gun made with a brush stroke, when you add it in, just keep it about the size it's at right now, keep it the color it is (hex value #444444)
If it isn't clear: you are drawing the gun yourself, I don't have a gun symbol in the document, and I won't make a gun symbol, you as an animator need to draw the gun yourself, or use the one the last person left, the gun may and probably will change it's rotation, and 3D orientation (obviously still 2D but made to look 3D depending on what angle it's at) throughout the collab. If the person previous to you leaves the gun a little smaller or larger than you think it should be, go back to the first frame, to look at the gun I drew for a size reference then ease the last person's gun to about the right size during your part, I don't expect anyone to do anymore detail on the gun than no detail at all, it is the shape of a pistol, as long as it's the right size and color roughly, you're good! Making a gun symbol is encouraged so you don't have to keep redrawing it took anyone who to that the wrong way

UPDATE 8/18/12

Turns out, I'm going to get to be picky after all, I've gotten more than 12 people that want to join, so, I'm gonna have to start choosing people based on their skill level. If you know anyone that's a good animator that would want to be in this, let them know! Even though I haven't made any final choices on entrants yet, I can start with the people who look to be the best and allow people to join still. The list of entrants may change slightly as time goes on, but if you see your name on it now, you'll most likely be in the collab. Thanks to everyone for the positive feedback, and I hope this goes smoothly.

omg ;.; so amazing.. i want in.. but i just accepted a battle D: SCREW IT I CAN JUGGLE. I'M DEFIANTLY IN!.. but wait, there is no gun template? and how will any1 know where the gun was left?

I'm gonna send the next person the most recent version of the file, then they'll pick up where the last person left off

and just draw the gun, it's gonna look different from different angles
