It may seem inefficient but I actually am finding about 6-8 iron ore per layer lately.
I actually am getting more material over all than I ever have previously.

Plus when I reach the bottom imma put my bedroom down there.

It does look pretty nice, I suppose. Although, I myself would never even get close to finishing something like that; I'd just get bored.

Also, I am glad I am doing it this way. As I went into creative mode on this map to fuck around and saw that this fucking map has some crazy as hell labyrinthine dungeons in it, I am seriously thinking I ironically broke into the only one that is empty lol.

I've just gotten back to mining it, as a pig farm for food has become necessity and my home grown forest needed to be chopped down so I decided tore model my whole living area too plus all the lava I went and grabbed.

But now, back to digging.

Dude you should build a huge building on top of the hole, and just have this gigantic compound/castle thing going from the top of the building down to the bottom, it would be so awesome.

Gold is mostly for decorations in my opinion. Unless you're going to make powered rails. But other than that, and golden apples and glistening melons... It's rather useless and overly abundant deep in the caves.
