Also a separate hot key for V clones and actual V would help so much. CTRL and - perhaps?

I like rain's idea, the first hot key press will select the main V.

It doesn't bother me all too much as I use the charge command before possessing and/or doing things with my V's. The majority of my comp goes in seiges so I needn't worry about the bulk of my army too much as the thing I need to focus on primarily would be my Casters. Separating clones and actual v's should be something you do as you prepare for the next siege.

Yes but it would still be convenient.

I like that too; cycle should be more intuitive.

What if when you spawned the clones, it auto selected the clones?

The problem is selecting the main V and not the clones.

That selects both the V and the clones, which is the problem.

Literally 245 pages in here over 3 years. Do you honestly think this has not been suggested?

I assume the "XD" in his post meant he was joking.

As for selecting the actual V selection thing. It should be easy to simply click the unit as you shouldn't need to control this unit in that manner all too much. You move forward by selecting them as one prepares to seige. Once seperated, you use the charge command to keep all your units spaced. You should still have your actual V's selected until they get within enemy range. If you are being forced into V's this either means you are closing game or have little option other than to do so. If the latter, use the hold command to keep your actual V's from charging into the fray. Then, using slight micro, click each individual V to use its possess ability to do as you desire. From there move according to your opponents response, whether that be approaching aggressively or defending to the maximum. Your clones should be selected via hotkey to mass prioritize a specific unit in which you wish to deal the most damage to.
Selecting the V itself shouldn't be an issue if you space and do half of the above.

Let the player determine whether they need to control the V in that manner. While it is very possible to control the V's and it's clones at the current state, it isn't practical at all. Assigning it to the CTRL+ ( - ) key would be a lot easier and make more sense than doing all the steps you stated.
