There was a dude named Mr. Anonymous on our social networking thing for school. He/she would convince people to sign up for his proxy, and then will tell you to change your avatar/thing to a Guy Fawkes mask.

i used to browse /b/ every day in like 2008-2009; "Anonymous" is just the go-to faggoty thing that whoever participating in a particular raid-esque thread used to flex nuts. we did things like prank call-in TV shows about religion and troll forums/camwhores/polls/stores/vulnerable people. xD leeejuuuunnn

there was (and still is) occasionally someone who makes an image about cooperating towards some greater goal, but it's almost never successful. when it is, it's still normal /b/ kiddies in a bunch of threads and perhaps irc channels behind it. pretty much irrelevant nowadays
