As dawn broke over the horizon, I felt the cool breeze come through my wind as I rose from my slumber. After saying my morning prayers, I got ready for another day of work at the local fish-market; it paid well, I should say. As I was walking down thelong and dusty road to my destination, I saw some children running past me on their way to school, and I thought, Ah! There goes some bright minds, in a calm, satisfied way. On my way to the fish market, I noticed something: the troops were patrolling, and I said to one of them, “There goes our brave men!”
“You’re on your way to work, I see?” said the one in front, wearing the olive green military uniform. “Just helping the country,” I replied, in a soft voice, “I see you’re doing the same.” And in response, he nodded. After talking to them,I continued my trek to the market. When I arrived, I announced my presence in a calm and jolly way. “Okay, now that you are here, you can help us, we’re backed up!” said the manager, a strict but funny man.
After serving some fish to some happy customers, I heard a loud siren, and I instantly knew what it was: a warning siren, a warning siren in case of attack. I quicky ran outside and saw people hurrying to and fro, children were holding on to their parents and the elderly were struggling to get to cover. I wondered what wasgoing on, so I then asked a parent that was leaving with her child, and she said to me: “If you need information, go find it yourself!” in a rude and impatient way, “I have a child to look after, you know!” I did not take up on this remark, so instead I hurried home, after getting permission from my boss. Upon arriving, I ducked under my bed, waiting for what was to come.
While waiting, I sang a song my mother used to sing to me, so I would not get bored waiting. Then, before I got up from under my bed, I heard a loud boom emanating from the mountains, east of my house. The boom shook the house like an earthquake, and Ifelt the vibrations all the way up to my teeth. And then, the place just went black with smoke, windows were shattered and dust came into the house, it was madness.
This ordeal lasted for a while, and when it finished, it took me a while to get up, and when I did, my house was in shambles. After going outside I saw an image of what was: the fish-market, the military base, the school, all gone. It took a while form me to comprehend all that was going on, with seeing all the dead bodies, destroyed building and other things I cannot describe. Why, oh why? Why must we suffer? Why must the innocent suffer for the crimes of others? Why mus tthe scorpion sting his own kind?
