It really just depends on what you like...
Personally I hate many of the new age rappers and listen to more 90's and early 2000 based rap...
In a sense I'm more into mainstream rap that revolves around well done producing, a memorable beat, very well thought out and heart felt lyrics, and overall high quality...
Generally I like to listen to "real" rap, and when I say real I don't mean as in the overused term used by idiots with their pants around their ankles... I mean people actually telling real stories about their life whether it be revolved around his trials and tribulations in an urban neighborhood or even actual relationship struggles not revolved around shaking asses a cheating hoes...
Not that I don't mind the occasional shit talk rap...
Example of rappers I like:
Jayz, DMX, Kanyewest, Lil Wayne, Biggy, Cory Gunz, Royce da 5' 9, Mose Def, etc...
(Almost forgot Leokill, he's the realest nigga around!)
Of course considering my taste there are other rappers who I don't particularly fancy:
Drake (Why the fuck do people like him btw? Someone like anwer this sometime...), 2Chainz, Wiz Kalifuh or some shit, Eminem alot of the times (though life in the fast lane was some hard ass shit!), Ying Yangs Twins, Lil John, etc...
But yeah, just because I don't like these guys it doesn't mean there is something particularly wrong with their style or way of doing things I just can't imagine why people find them so good...
Generally when someone thinks a new generation of something sucks and or is dying it's not really true it just means the person is of older taste and has no business listening to their shit...
