Yes, but over the years people have made it like that. Last time I went to a Halloween store for my cousin(8 years old) all I saw at first glance was Freddie Krueger stuff and SAW stuff and bloody axes and fake blood and shit like that. Honestly I agree with you, but what are you going to do?
