Is this style ok,or should I switch to something smoother?

If you like that style then use it
you could animate that style as being smooth as much as any other
you just need more frames and proper easing

Yea I agree. If your aim is smooth then you need more frames. Seems you have double framed or more quite a bit here. I like the big head Idea, reminds me of pluto :)

is it just me or the gray stick figure becomes black after it gets hit by the green one?
