So, I don't know how many of you follow along with cartoon news, or if anyone here liked Teen Titans at all, but for those that do and don't already know, I have good news! Teen Titans is coming back with a sequel series called Teen Titans Go!, having the entire original cast return to voice the characters. There have been shorts on the Cartoon Network as of late called New Teen Titans featuring chibi-esque characters in random situations, these are a precursor to the new series. I'm a fan of Scott Menville (who voices Robin, and has done other voices like Kevin French from Mission Hill or a character from Starcraft 2), so I found out about this a while ago through following him. I figured I'd make a thread in case any other fans of the original show were interested in talking about it.
According to World's Finest, the show is supposed to focus on the Teen Titans outside of saving the world. It's supposed to be more comedic. I'm hopeful that the show wont go too far in that direction, because honestly having a Teen Titans sitcom doesn't really sound appealing. Sam Register (former VP of Cartoon Network) is the executive producer behind it, so I have a lot of trust he will help ensure the series does well.

I'm looking forward for this release. However a comdeic sitcom is more suited between fights like it always was. Maybe both comedic and action packed like the episode of "mad mod".
Absolutely loved how they pulled it off.

I hope not. I really hope it's just for the New Teen Titans shorts.

That Episode was amazing. I would love it if they kept the same style. And continuity. I really hope they don't fuck up continuity.

That's not proof. Those are the New Teen Titans shorts, which are promotional. There's no real indication whether or not the series will be in the same style. I seriously hope not.

Yeah Teen Titans if I remember correct was like an old action comic book. So I really don't find it fit to try and turn it into a comedy.
Bare with me
But Disney actually had a similar experience with this, a sitcom of course Sunny With A Chance ran a fairly look show with a few seasons when Demy Lavado I think its spelled, eventually on to bigger and better things, so the show eventually became a show about a show portrayed in the show, yeah it was really complicated and it didn't work out, like at all.
I really don't wan't CN to go down that path, so I hope they are smart enough not to follow the path of other disgraceful networks.
So all and all i'm really excited for this because I was actually a big Teen Titan fan back in the day, now if only they would bring back shaolin showdown or something.

It was a great show when I used to watch it. I believe it was the highlight of my fridays back then whenever a new episode came out on CN.
I'm not sure how to feel about this new series. The old series was funny when it needed to be but also had some serious tones to balance it out. It had a story and character development (correct me if I'm wrong, my memory has faded) which was an important aspect that kept me watching. But to have a series focused purely on the humor, it seems like a hit or miss. I have a feeling that it will cater towards the younger generation which will be disappointing for old fans. We'll have to wait and see.
But if they do it chibi.... Fuck.

Yeah I'm subscribing to a wait and see policy on this. They have taken several excellent and promising steps such as getting the original cast back. The original series was pretty much exactly as you described it, Envoy, which was why I liked it. I'm hoping it will remain so.
I don't really remember 100% the original series. I do remember pretty much all of the first season, and it had a bit of a problem because TV Networks don't always air TV shows in order. So there are like 3 episodes that could be the first episode because they all introduce the characters, and some times episodes are placed where they shouldn't be continuity wise (I think there was an episode that was supposed to go in the last 3 of season 5 but was placed mid-season 4 for some reason).

oh cool, teen titans was a great show.
but it'd be annoying to watch a full length anything with them in chibi mode.. but i can see why they'd do it to save money, considering they aren't doing anything actiony
