Quote from UrakoWhile we're on the subject of songs, I have one for my character, but I don't know how good it is:p Any ideas for a better one?
Current one.
Personally, I wouldn't say it... exactly fits, but it's not bad. I feel like there are two parts two a theme song- the theme, and the song. I've found it easy to get lulled into certain elements of the song itself- maybe the singer has a good voice, they're sending off the right vibes, the genre fits the character, etc- but then when you break down the lyrics (presuming there song has any), they don't fit as well as you'd hoped. Sometimes the lyrics don't fit in obvious ways- like if we had The Gentleman banging to some NWA, but other times in more subtle ways that we don't immediately realize. The inverse can also be true, in that you could have a song where the singer's lyrics are pretty good but they just don't- they can't sing, they can't rap, they can't play, or they can- but like you wanted classical music, something old-timey, but they're in the trap house with it. A lot of it's preference.
An example of this I had with Dante was... Bring Me The Horizon's "Don't Go" Now uh... there are a... lot of reasons why I don't really... associate this song with Dante anymore, but first thing to recognize- the song's written in first person, and the singer, who I was associating with Dante, crying out "DON'T GO" for whatever reason, aye? Well eventually I sat myself down, really got to thinking, and asked myself what seems like a very simple thing to ask that I should've thought up a long time ago.
"...The fuck's he talking to?"
Like honestly, who, in my character's life, is so genuinely close to him that he would be screaming that to himself? Has him on his damn knees, begging and pleading? I had to ask myself that. Turns out, the answer was... no one, lol. He's a gladiator. He does his own thing, can fend for himself, and lives his own life. I was just angsting out in the corner and projecting that onto my wRHG. That sort of projection isn't necessarily something you should frown upon- there were and certainly still are moments of Dante's life that I can relate to various points of that chunk of lyrics- "We all have our horrors and our demons to fight, but how can I win when I'm paralyzed?" up there for sure, and I liked the aesthetic, but... I didn't want Dante's theme, Dante's story, to become this... cry for help or whatever, y'know? Sure he's had it hard, in ways I haven't fully, and needn't really go into, but I wanted him to stand up for himself and get to somewhere better and happier, and I needed a theme- in song or otherwise- that reflected that. So I took some time off writing and focused on expanding my life, expanding my taste in music, trying new things, getting out of the house, seeing how people lived, living a bit myself, and then I took another stab at writing a twenty to thirty year-old man who knew a thing or two about life. Now let's take a look at Dozer, and "Hero" by Skillet.
This is... actually a tough one to analyze, just with how Skillet set up the lyrics. Skillet... is not superhuman, needs a hero, keeps telling us he needs a hero, but then later in the song says he's got a hero, is himself a hero, and will be saved by a hero? I've always found this song to be pretty confusing, but that's a personal gripe- you might not share it, and nobody's asking you to. The lyrics fit in a way.
As for the song itself, though- personally, I don't... quite... vibe to it? I'm not super familiar with Dozer and his personality, but it says on the profile he's rarely serious, so when I hear Skillet screaming out like that, angsting, whatever the word is, I... eh. I get this weird twinge. Flashbacks to Dante and his old theme, I reckon. But yeah, I guess I could see it fitting in a moment when Dozer is actively pursuing a lead regarding his sister, tensions are high, etc- but with a theme song, I feel like- if this were to come on the radio, or start playing in a club somewhere in my character's universe, a necessary quality of it being my character's theme is that my character would nod their head to it, vibe to it themselves, I guess. And I don't know Dozer like you know Dozer, but personally... I dunno if Dozer would go for Skillet or not.
As for how to look for a "better" theme song, I mean- only thing you can really do is keep looking up music, expand your own tastes, and wait for one to strike a chord with you. If you have a car, flip through the radio on the way to work or school- if you have a smartphone, try different music apps- Soundcloud is one, Google Play is another, then there's always YouTube- and if you're looking for more of an... experience... try a concert every now and then, hit up your local music venues, maybe sing or play a bit yourself, yeah? It's good to get out there sometimes. :)

Speaking of songs, I've been considering this one for Dr. MacBeth.
Yeah, this one right here
Any thoughts?

Lol that's why I said I need a better one and why its NOT on his profile page:p I also think you may have gone a little overboard on the explanation.

I think its more along the lines of the topic just springing up out of interest.

See now, I can't suggest songs to anyone, because even though I have tons of songs for different situations and different themes, but most of them are EDM/remixes/other things no-one here likes. So my hands are tied here.
Also I like how Azure (the one I directed the y u mad bro comment to) is the only one out of the three people here I am talking to who hasn't responded to it (but to be fair, he doesn't seem to like responding to anything I say

Oh, I wasn't mad. I was simply stating a fact about Manny exclusively because the topic turned to themes. I've got no opinion of the song you think of between Dante and Manny. Also, the "y u mad" comment wasn't immediately obvious in being directed towards me.

But yeah, theme songs are fun and all. But I want a battle, I need to battle, I want to battle the battle. Anyone up for one? :P

ON YET ANOTHER COMPLETELY UNRELATED TOPIC, I want to do an event. I know I haven't fought anyone, I have done some... interesting things here and I am potentially the person who writes the shortest, least interesting stories here.
Also I would be a sh*t host, and I would like someone else to do the hosting if possible because
a) me
b) me
c) me
d) I don't know where to put this stuff or how to organise it *read as me
Alright. So, unlike my usual incredibly witty titles, this one I couldn't think something of. Now, this is going to be anathema to a lot of you, and that is exactly why I made it. Now, most of the good people of wRHG don't seem to like writing about straight up, battlefield violence. So what I wanted to do was exactly that. You can either create a character or use one you have already made(assuming they aren't alex unsealed or anything near that, in which case we WILL have issues), but they have to fight under one of five factions. Note this is a free for all. I have no idea what sort of rest of things we should do with this (i.e. deadlines, max participants etc.) so I would like suggestions.
The five factions are as followed:
Order Felicis: Cold, calculating. Make Profit. Masters of Archaotech (magic/tech fusion thingy-ma-bobs). Will sacrifice basically anything for power and Profit.
Grey Knights: An elite army dedicated to upholding truth, honour, and all that jazz. Every member must have some sort of magical/celestial/psychic power (no demons though, for obvious reasons).
Survivors: A bunch of rogues and mercenaries. Camaderie , joking around and experience is common.
Fracture: A bunch of random people collected together by a mirror-daemon. Will ALWAYS arrive in a Fractured Gateway (air fractures and cracks like broken glass, and reflections coalesce and morph into their forces).
Tempestus Scions: Are basically modern military. With laser guns (thermal lasers in case you are wondering).

@Dooms:
You're idea is interesting, but it will meet with the same fate my idea for a Halloween special event will: there simply isn't enough time.
Secret Santa is a Christmas event we do as SP, and that will probably start sometime soon, and will absorb everyone's time.
ON the flip side, a battle-oriented event isn't a bad idea. Here's the thing: because it is JUST battle, why not turn this into a forum game and post it in the General Discussion forum?
That forum gets TONS more traffic, and if you do it forum-game style you could probably get a good number of people. I know that I participated in two of those sorts of games when I was newer here...one of them provided the base inspiration for the good Doctor.

I wonder if anyone knows whether I know what Secret Santa is, and that I'm fine with postponing this until everyone has time (not literally everyone, I'm not completely stupid as to time concerns).
Also, I wanted this to be writing only, and if it's forumwide and people actual notice it(senpai), then there may be some trouble. I was kinda hoping for a thing like one of Crank's MANY, MANY events.

Well if you want something like what I do, you may want to scale it back. First, six participants is really solid in the Writer's Lounge, so five groups filling up would be extremely difficult to pull off. Additionally, laying out what's expected would be good as well. People seem to be more prone to joining things when the tasks they do are relatively brief. Like, getting it done in a sitting, I suppose.
Then again though, I don't exactly have an outside looking in perspective for this.
And this is Secret Santa, by the way.

Welp, I might be inactive for a long while here. Might have gotten a broken collarbone playing soccer, so I might be out.
