Prostitution, some say it's cool (pervs, tsk), some say it's a great sin and so many have been infected by a disease called HIV/AIDS
A link to the definition of HIV/AIDS:

A link to the obvious definition of prostitution who some innocent people don't know:

A reason why it should be made legal is that, there will be less people infected with such a disease. It's because the 'prostitutes' can have a daily/monthly check-up on their current condition. They also don't have to hide anymore, they can now be tracked by the government, to avoid the spreading of the virus.
In your opinion, do you agree that prostitution should be legal?

Huh.
I never actually thought about prostitution seriously. There are pros and cons on both sides, that's for sure.
I'd probably have to go to Amsterdam to see how it's working out there.
Making prostitution legal would probably benefit countries where prostitution is already common, like USA, because that'd make it easier to regulate and to make sure that prostitutes are actually treated with respect.
Somewhere like Finland though, where illegal prostitution doesn't practically even exist, it'd probably cause more harm than good to suddenly make it legal. We don't even need more jobs, so it'd be pretty pointless. It might work out though, who knows.
From a moral standpoint, prostitution is alright with me. If I'd be against prostitution because of morals, I'd have to be against porn and strip clubs too.

Prostitution IS legal in Nevada through regulated brothels:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prostitution_in_Nevada
It seems to have almost nothing a but a positive effect given the situation. Women are much more protected from diseases and infections, and are better taken care of because they are such a large investment. You can't stop prostitution from happening, and it's something that could potentially drive a lot of business. I think it would make sense to legalize it under strict conditions, similar to weed, so that at least government profit can be made and the women subjecting themselves to it have a lower risk of ruining their lives.
There was an interesting AMA on Reddit from a woman who actually works AT a legal brothel in Nevada (POTENTIALLY NSFW, but informative, so be careful clicking links):
http://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/comments/wxn5i/my_name_is_amy_page_and_iama_legal_prostitute_at/
From her AMA she appears to love the work, especially because it was hard for her to find a job:
"I was unemployed for a year after being layed off by a call center. I was trying to find work at a waitress or phone dealer but no luck. This was the first place to hire me in a while."
Meaning this place provided her with work where otherwise she may not have, as well as a place to live and protection (in the context of STDs and STIs):
"Yes we get tested once a week. Customers wear condoms for oral and sex. I have many different sizes and flavors! Magnum, Ultra Thin, Mint Flavored, Banana Flavored, Strawberry, Ultra Lubercated, Extra Large, Snuggle Fit, Iron Grip, and Tuxedo Black."
It pays very well:
"I get half of what I get paid by the customer. I made 12,000 last month and only worked for two weeks. And I might only get fu*ked once a day."
And she seems to enjoy the sex (who wouldn't?):
"Very very very very much so!!! My favorite is the two girl parites... I love playing with my girl friends too."
She also gets plenty of freedoms, so it's not like she's forced into doing anything she doesn't want to, and she has plenty to keep her occupied between clients:
"no but as long as there isnt any line ups and im not in a party, I can do whatever i want. I have my own room with netflix on tv. I like to veg out all day with my ancient aliens and TedTalks programs. We have catering all day to answer your question."
All in all it seems the working conditions are ideal, the money is right, and it's safer for everyone involved. It's pretty hard to speak out against that kind of result. It seems like the only people who would object to it would be morally pretentious religious folk who have a "holier-than-thou" attitude when it comes to someone else's body and such. I've seen controversy from people who claim that prostitution demeans women and sets us back in terms of women's rights, but I think that's sort of a ridiculous assertion because a lot of women make the decision themselves to prostitute as a legitimate means to make money. A lot of men AND women are willing and able to pay for sex, so as long as both parties consent and there's a regulated environment for it, I don't see the harm.

Even though Prostitution could bring the economy in a higher rate, it would still be idiotic.
Prostitution is known for causing diseases that many people don't want. Plus it's unjust when it's done to the women. Even if you give them what you have, it still wouldn't heal you. And their parents could be worried sick because some prostitutes could get kidnapped

But if it's legal it can be regulated. You can require the prostitutes to be tested regularly and you can make sure they are not being forced into it. And yes, they can be kidnapped, but so can pizza delivery guys. They're adults. Looking after themselves is part of life.

He was simply alluding to the fact that the law/state cannot protect us from everything, and shouldn't have to, especially if those actions are illegal in and of themselves.

This is a very good point. The same point about the "demeaning" nature can be applied to pornography, NSFW modeling, and other things that apparently objectify women, in some cases. I would like to add that the idea that it is demeaning is very one-sided. Is it not just as demeaning to men to be thought of as sex addicts in the public view as it is women? Furthermore, why do we even focus on gender at all? If it was consensual, then both parties are equally guilty of being human. Let's face it: Sex is something that is necessary for human survival. It probably always will be. It's really up to the people who participate to decide whether or not the act was responsible or not. We are only human. (Except Zed, of course)

On these days, where information about methods against the infection of those viruses (and info about those diseases) are practicaly at the reach of the hand, the only reasons to be infected by them are stupidity (I.E: "Babe, i don't want to use a condom because it feels better without one", or because of casual sex without protection and missinformation about the healthness of the other person), poverty (some people don't have the money to access the different sources of information, or even for a lot of people, concraceptives are too expensive), and infortunate cases(that can be easily avoided) (just like being infected through blood, through tattooing needles [this kind of accident can be easily avoided by asking the tattooist to boil the needles or use a brand new one for your tatoo], etc) i'm leaving out cases where the person borns with it, because when you born with it, you don't <
Prostitution have almost nothing to do with it, since you can just avoid it with a condom. If you have money for a prostitute, I don't think a condom is too expensive for you.
And in my opinion, it should be legal but it shouldn't be encouraged. If someone wants to be a prostitute, it's okay with me. while it doesn't affects other people in a negative way, everyone should do whatever they want; while respecting other people freedom.

I have to clarify, sex is not necessary for a human to survive on it's enviroment; but it is necessary for the conservation of the species.
Also, if you want sex, then get a girlfriend or learn how to flirt at bars or something. Or even on the worse case, masturbate yourself >_>

Human survival, when I said it, meant as a species. Not as an individual, as any individual can live without it. (Not that they will want to)
I wasn't speaking for myself
