How exactly does it show skill when you can build anything from the get go without your opponent knowing what it is you built?
And then when you finally see his army you most likely get your ass kicked or vice versa

The skill is shown by how you react after seeing the enemies' build. And you can always retreat and pull out some counters. It's like classic, only it jumps to mid-game with equal terms.
