The surprise spearton hurts your economy, and can only have any effect on a shorter stage. I'll discuss more things with you in SE.
I'll need your code as well.
Here is what's wrong with this strategy, and how I personally defend against it. I usually see my opponent DOESN'T try to get the middle as he is trying to keep the Spearton a secret. So, what I do is send a ShadowWrath with cloak and sneak up to opponent's garrison to check. If he has... let's say 20 Spearton.
Middle: This is mostly for show. You want to keep your real defense a secret. Spearton Rushers are basically like Giant Spammers. They DON'T scout to see what your army is like. They either CAN'T find out or just ASSUME that his army can defeat yours or destroy your statue in time.
So, you should have some expensive looking units but not all of your army. For example, a Magikill and maybe a Giant or 2 with Allbowtrosses or Archidons. Simple, not really complicated. As I said, more for show as your opponent will most likely assume that's your entire army and he won't bother to scout.
Base: This is where the defense lies. You will need 1-2 Miner Walls, 2-3 Castle Archers, 5-10 SwordWrath with rage, and 1 Spearton in Shield Wall.
Last game, I had 1 Miner wall, 2 Castle Archers, 7 SwordWrath, and 1 Spearton. Set up your defense like this EXACTLY.
Build 1st Wall farther away from base, and 2nd Wall closer to base. I only had time to build 1, but that's okay. If you build 2, your opponent's Spearton will die before your statue has lost ANY health at all. If you build it in this order, your opponent's Spearton will start to target your army unless he manually selects the 2nd Wall. Your Spearton, of course, will be in front. Your 5-10 SwordWrath then will start pounding away and start destroying your opponent. If you can get a Magikill with Electric Wall, then all the better.
20 Spearton dead before 3/4 statue health is gone.
