So I am applying to a film school, and for my portfolio piece I need to make a two minute documentary relating to the theme of "orange" and I am allowed to interpret it in any way I like.
My interview is in two weeks so I need to get the ball going pretty quickly.
Does anyone have any ideas on what I can do with this? I'm stuck in a block for lack of ideas, at least notable ones.

Things that come to mind:
. The journey of an orange from a farm to our OJ. Make the orange the main character.
. The importance of orange in every day life. What the color is used for and what it symbolizes. What are the predominant things related to the color. e.g. sun, fruit, fire, warmth.

Talk about the orange box from valve

Orange is a color that is represented with fire along with red and yellow.
Red and yellow also create orange
Fire is a symbol for passion and intensity.

Make the orange intense.
Have an orange flying/rolling around doing amazing things because it has PASSION AND IS INTENSE
HAVE HIM EXPLORING, HUNTING, HIKING A MOUNTAIN, MAKING LOVE TO A BEAUTIFUL WOMAN AFTER TAKING HER OUT ON AN AMAZING DATE
And at the end of the day, he goes to bed and wakes up the next morning, drinks a glass of his own juices AND DOES IT ALL AGAIN

You could be metaphorical.
Orange doesn't rhyme with anything, so you could play off it's isolation.
Additionally, it's got two meanings. You could spoof if other things were named after what color they were.

Also, you could spin a saying.
Apples and Oranges.

Put an orange lens over your camera and let's make a porno.

Do a documentary on the sun. Solar flares are always an interesting science topic. There's also taking into account orange farms, seeing how they run, what is used to keep the oranges healthy and if they're organic or not. Another suggestion would be to take a look at some orange artwork, possibly online, possibly at a gallery or museum.

I may be the voice of madness, but even I believe one should try taking a serious approach on matters they truly care about, and which could determine their future.

this could be cute. you could do this with such narration that gives the orange a personality and feelings, while simultaneously being a documentary on how oranges are processed for juice.
