People keep saying, as following a fashion, that "nowadays people are idiots", "all this commerciality around sucks", ecc.
And the only effect of this is only to support the shitty attitude of people who do not believe in anything and end up being damnly apathetic

I'd like to ask you now to think what's good in society, so that you can start thinking in a little different way than you usually do (no, saying "there is nothing good" doesn't count, otherwise you should have already committed suicide)

said this, what's good nowadays in society in your opinion?

We haven't nuked each other yet. That's a step in a positive direction.

We have laws against chemical warfare too. That's a good sign.

I can access the collective knowledge of the human race with my cell phone. We live in the information age and all of us take it for granted.

Depends how far you're willing to take 'nowadays' back.
5-10 years?
50 years?
We've sent a man on the moon, we know more about the planet than ever, and like Exilement said, I could use something as small as my cell phone to learn all of it.
We've over came and found cures for so many life threatening illnesses, we will have probably beaten cancer in the near future.
Technology is ever growing and people can now even litterally pay for the bodies that they want.
This is probably one of the best times to live in, in my opinion.

I think nudists are great things in society.
You can be openly gay without punishment or ridicule for the most part. Drugs have gotten a lot more potent.
You can make money online for masturbating.
There's less stigma around mental disorders, or being a complete whore because both have become a little more acceptable.

Remember all those times of starvation? Most of it's gone. Now it's too fucking easy to go and pack on tonnes from McDonalds and KFC and other places.
As for the less fortunate, there are hundreds of programmes to try and bring money and supplies to the poor and starving.

either that or he's trying to focus on the positives, which is the entire purpose of this thread

we've come a long way and made a shitload of progress as a species. I have very pessimistic views about humanity but even I can't deny how much we've collectively accomplished.

sure, we've accomplished lots of cool things, but at the moment achieving anything useful is pretty much deemed unimportant because all that matters is "can i sell this?"

Funny thing is, two gay guys got the shit kicked out of them today in my school...
Apparently holding hands in a public area as a male couple is alot more offensive than a guy and a broad fucking in the girls restroom while screaming: "JESUS!!!! UUUUUUUUUUUGGHH!!!!!!"

But yeah, I think one MAJOR accomplishment in society is the internet...
All bullshit aside I find the best part about being on the internet is that you can talk to alot of people of different cultures that might not be common in your area... It's not often I get to call a Finnish guy a cracker or bitch with a Brit while drinking tea...
