Why are we so afraid to challenge people? Is it because we know they're better? We know that we're worse? Or is it something else entirely? Do we have assumptions about people even before we battle them?

I second this. I mean we do have some good animators out there but people seem to worship them too much. Yes, I commend them; Geo, Pluto, Pepper, Hyun, Terkoiz, WeEin, Jombo, Jomm, Oxob, etc; but people take it a little bit too far. I think if you want to have an RHG battle with someone you should have it. It's not always down to winning.

In reality, most are pretty inactive.

Maybe not afraid but i would get really nervous, especially if i faced Guz O_O.

Well now that the topics been changed.

I don't think their such things as being nervous to Battle. I mean, when someone battles you you have the decision to say no. Some people aren't ready or don't think they're equally matched.

From what I've been reading in the written section of this, it looks like fear is a very real thing when it comes to the gorier writers!
As far as being outmatched goes though, I think it's a good push to get you going. Once you're in the mindset of "I'm going to get ripped apart", you get some really solid motivation to bust your butt on your match!
