When I kite archers (not much, as I play chaos) I just select the archer(s) and right click a suitable distance from my foe. The archer will run to that point then turn and fire. Then right click a new point, more distant from the foe, and keep repeating.

On my MacBook, the hotkeys (command + key) it closes the window.

...That's not how you use them. You just press the key, you don't need to press the command button.
