I am a huge fan to metal rock. Practically everything I listen to on my MP3 is metal. I'm also in a death metal band, me being the vocalist/screamer for 'Critically Distorted". That name NEEDS to be changed by the way. I'm also in another band, being the drummer..which the name is undecided as to this date so far. But thats enough about me. You guys are probably wondering why the hell we need this forum? Well, not for a good reason, but yes, an interesting one. Feel free to chit-chat about your favorite 'hardcore' bands, or your metal music works. Possibly post a few demos, or jam session videos? Possibly even ask for good recomendations for a band name? Or even to scout out for other muscicians out in your regions for recrution? Allow me to start on that band name idea. As you already know, my band's name is 'Critically Distorted'. We're thinking about changing the name to: "Destroy the Skyline".. What do you guys think?

Nothing like howling and screaming while your band hammers away crude arrangements of power chords with the distortion cranked so everybody knows that your music is heavier and more hardcore than other genres. And be sure to give your band a hardcore name involving hardcore words such as blood, death, corpse, etc.

Seriously though, I'm not trying to generalize an entire genre, and there is plenty of metal that I'll listen to. But I just never understood what people see in the cliche, pseudo-hardcore, scream laden "death metal" bands. I always found bands like that comparable to "gangsta" rappers. In the sense that both of them are commercialized, trying to appear cool, while taking attention away from the real talented artists of their genre.

But to each his own I suppose.
