I'll admit here that more times than not I see the world in a negative way.

Half and half, probably. I see the world in a negative light in relation to human nature etc etc. But I often-times catch myself in wonder/awe at nature and its beauty, and at how something this beautiful is even possible, and I also catch myself in awe at humanity. People too easily forget just how wonderful, but also terrible, a species we are. Take a look at these sorts of videos and you can't help but feel kind of positive about humanity and all that we've accomplished:

Things generally work out if you don't worry about them too much. I guess that makes me an optimist.

Incidentally, has anyone ever heard someone refer to a glass as "half empty"? The default state of a glass is empty so if you're describing the contents it's natural to talk about the unexpected extra that's there, rather than how much potential the glass has for containing even more. I know no one brought this up yet but it's something which has bothered me for ages.

i tend to think of it terms of which direction the amount of liquid has been going. if the glass was in the process of being filled, it is half full. if it was in the process of being emptied, it is half empty.

Pessimist, and I hate myself for it. I tend to question and criticize everything.

I miss some other options thought, Realist for example.

I view humanity's past negatively, but also look to the future with optimism. I hope/expect to see some beneficial changes in my life time.
So I think I'll go with optimist.
