Don't have a spot where he's standing still and waiting for the nest attack. Either make his momentum carry him further back or make a transition where he tries to attack. Also just a quik tip about ur kicks: a common mistake is to make the kick radial in relation to the 2d space you're operating on, but if you think about it, the leg goes to the side of the body in that kind of kick so the leg almost seems like its shrinking and regaining its original size while in motion instead of just traveling in a huge circle around the body.
