Just choose line tool and place lines (cracks) in the wall you want. It's easy though, but if you really want a real-realistic crack then sorry, I'm not that good in cracks.

thank you very much

unless you have a reason why brush is better than the line tool, this is useless advice. either one would work.

Brush and a very thin brush size for me. You'd simply scratch about a bit. it's easier to make different sections of the crack wider. and more realistic than a couple of straight lines. The fun really starts if you have a tablet with pressure sensitivity.

If you're using a line tool for a crack. It will make a bad result. Because crack is not a neat one, and line is neat (understand?). Brush will make a realistic crack. Maybe you can ask Terkoiz or someone who's in the Rushed4

While I do agree, brush offers more freedom. Line makes it easier to get it proportional and 'right'. Of course you can get it good in brush, but line makes it easier to do; but it suffers in detail. :P I also think using lines for cracks/effects add some sort of special "flavour" to it, a bit suave and cool. Another idea since he wants to do realistic cracks is to use the line tool, make the cracks with it. Turn the layer into a guide and use the "line-crack" and draw over it with the brush, using the lines as a reference. Just make sure you make the lines red and the brush black/dark-coloured so that you can distinguish both. Then just remove the guide layer and voila.
