Based on the length of her neck and the size of her hands, her jaw should be extended down quite a bit more. The left finger (her right) also kinda... disappears into her cheek as well, which kind of makes her look like she's stabbing herself with her finger. XD other than that, very nice! the coloring is well done (a little bit too much brown for my tastes though) and the overall drawing is good. :)

To add on to what others have said...

You don't seem to have a clue as to the structure of the skull. There is a bit of empty space from between the jaw and the cheekbone. That's where the cheeks are and that is why you can poke/squish it; the skin has somewhere to go. The face is NOT an amorphous blob. If she were pushing her cheeks up, her jawline should be more defined because the skin is streched over adthat part

In addition, the face is incredibly short. The jawline is simply too high up, to the point where even imagining the state of her skull would be a tad on the impossible side.

The hands are also very lazy/not well defined. Fingers are of different widths, knuckles aren't defined at all through shading. The shape of the palm is also wrong.

Oh, and the shading seems incredibly random with no apparent light source.

If i wanted to go more further...there's also the overly simplistic hair, where the blocky highlights make it seem like it were a sheet of metal. I don't like how you've given the nose a bit of realistic shape, yet have it so ridiculously small either.

In short, you'll need an intensive course in facial anatomy. Learn about the structure of the skull too, and make sure you know where the bone is.

Dang, way to get nitty gritty! I can agree with some of your points, mostly on the anatomy and such, but somethings are probably just style. Not everyone likes to do overly realistic hair (<- just take a look at my ava), things like noses depend on the artists preferences, and he has a very soft shading style so it may be hard to see where the light source is. Anime is extremely malleable style wise, so it varies greatly from artist to artist. Good critique though, that's the kind of stuff that we need in the art section.

Lobotomizer~ thanks! you always have very specific and detailed critiques which is a great and helpful thing!! some of the problems with the cheeks etc, were stylistic things and I got a bit confused between going more realistic and more cartoony in the middle of drawing it.
In terms of anything that has to do with over-simplicity and/or laziness, this was somewhat of a speed-painting I guess you could say because I just wanted to give my friend a pic for her birthday and I was already late.
I definitely want to learn more about anatomy though, because imo it's always been one of my biggest problems!
Thank you for the in-depth critique!
