Yeah, it looks like NASA has been modifying their data upwards recently.
The funny thing is (this is from another source) a LOT of Nasa thermometers are actually in cities, which have been warming faster anyway due to urban traffic/heat exhaust. They still had to adjust the numbers upwards to account for upward skewed data? Search me. This all is starting to seem like a moneymaking scheme on "green" trinkets, shirts, even TV shows.
Global Warming = Fraud

There's an "All Green" channel coming on TV now.
Kill me.
The stupid Green movement is mostly founded on lies and misdirection. Things like recycling plastic (More petroleum is used to transport and recycle all that material than is to produce and transport plastic) and paper (Except newsprint, which is the most effective ingredient in cardboard)
In the end, people start sacrificing too much time and money for new hybrid cars (Which cost you more in the long run) and expensive t-shirts made out of recycled plastic bottles.
I've yet to see any convincing evidence of global warming or the good effects of recycling things other than aluminum.

I'm not against recycling/earth-friendly changes, but when we have to blatantly lie to give "green" companies the excuse to profiteer on the public then there's something wrong with the movement itself.

I wouldn't be surprised. People, especially americans, are wasteful burdens on the earth who destroy the planet with or without global warning. Deriving from this, perhaps this is a reason for people to become more earth friendly and recycle more. Whether it makes people and companies money (which helps the economy, doesn't it?), and gets idiots to buy things from them, they are making people make healthier choices. Is there anything wrong with that? I mean I don't find it offending at all to be lied to for a greater good.

I don't believe in doing it with a Machiavellian conduct - manipulating and lying to people to make money - and I also don't believe that global warming is happening at all. We don't have enough long-term climatology data to tell. We don't know how El nino/la nina/the atlantic and pacific temperature oscillations affect it. But I DO think we need to be more environmentally conscious.

And these lies are helping this progress. idiots can spend money how they want on merchandise, and good for the scammers, especially if it funds a cause like recycling.
I don't know about spending so much money on hybrids or any other squandering that is done to protect the environment, because it seems they're forced to do so by their green beliefs.

What harm can be done on cutting down on emissions?
Jun 6, 2008 9:31 AM #149776
Well it's just that more effort is going into cutting emissions down to make it working.

Recycling just creates even more pollution, and about the hybrid cars, that belongs in another debate which I am tempted to start..

how the **** does recycling create more pollution? If you know your greek roots, which you probably don't, Re = Repeat, Cycle = Around, or circle (i think)
If you put em together, it means re use. How does reusing things create more pollution?

I dont understand... The process of recycling uses machines and the machines themselves give out what?..exhaust?
Maybe I just dont know what recycling really is?..but this is what I have heard from professionals.

why would they put recycle in machines.. that would take the whole point out of recycling.
Jun 7, 2008 12:33 AM #150245
Actually Kveyo, they have to use machines in order to recycle things. Sure it makes pollution but there is a heap less then making things from scratch, and is more economically efficiently.

You just love debating, don't you?
Recycling is anything but bad for the environment. They may use machines to do the work, but not only would recycling with machines that use oil or gas or whatever the ****, would benefit the earth more than hurt it. I don't know, and I won't look into it, but I'm sure plants that recycle try to be as eco-friendly as they can by using electricity more or something.
Also, let's say that recycling was not put into practice, and a plastic bottle is thrown out.
Paper and some materials decompose because of their composition: wood and I think some shit they use. Plastic on the other hand, takes hundreds of years to decompose. Landfills with plastic in them will only damage the earth with this waste, and dumps that burn garbage will leave off much more than a few machines if you burn a few items (I've heard dumps burn their garbage to dispose of it. Is this correct? if not, never mind on that point. =/ ).
Recycling re-uses plastic, paper, metal, and other things that take machines to produce. Raw materials and plants need oil to make their products that are commonly recycled (as I recently heard on the news when I heard of yet another rise in oil prices). If recycling was not around, more plants would use materials from recources other than recycling, which would damage the earth by taking its resources, and yet again, polluting.
Even if recycling uses machines that sometimes, if even so, use oil or gas, which I doubt anyway (thinking of your odd statement of believing if it is a machine, it gives off exhaust. Electric machines to my knowledge do not do this.)
Quote from Kveyowhy would they put recycle in machines.. that would take the whole point out of recycling.
No it wouldn't. Recycling plants, as I hear, do use machines to compact and ship materials to factories for use. (read my reply to the other guy's post. I don't feel like typing so much!)
Quote from KveyoIf you put em together, it means re use. How does reusing things create more pollution?
You're right, but this doesn't mean recycling plants don't pollute.
Quote from SteinerActually Kveyo, they have to use machines in order to recycle things. Sure it makes pollution but there is a heap less then making things from scratch, and is more economically efficiently.
They use containers to recycle, and machines to process them I hear.
