MAJOR EDIT: Since Diablo has been chosen as the project, I hereby change this thread.
Until the project is complete, this thread will be for suggesting/discussing ideas for gameplay elements, storylines, NPC's, Locations, enemies, etc. Any posts about other games before this edit must stay, as we may come back to them later.
Here are some things I have thought up:
The tutorial will be based in the timeline of Diablo 1, and there will be three classes during this section of the game. The Warrior, the Rogue, and the Mage. The player will get the opportunity to play all three, with a tutorial for each character.
-The tutorial will start with the Warrior, when he returns after the war with Westmarch. The player will learn basic movement, combat, and about their character's stats (life, mana, stamina, and an auxillary resource based on the class).
-Then the Rogue joins the party, and the ranged tutorial begins. The player will learn about passive effects like dodge, and about activated abilities, such as Sight.
-Finally, the Mage joins up, and the magic tutorial begins. The player will learn about the elemental, physical, and magical strengths and weaknesses of enemies and characters, and about magical boons and curses.
Then, the player will find a mortally wounded townsman, and begin a quest to kill The Butcher. This will be the first and easiest boss battle, where the boss mechanics are introduced. Bosses will each have their own special attacks, much like how each player has their own skill tree. Details for The Butcher have not yet been confirmed.
After the tutorial quest is complete, the timeline will be moved to Diablo 2, and the player will choose one of several classes (the original 5 will be there, plus some new ones.) They will play that character for the remainder of the game. The ultimate goal is to defeat all three Prime Evils, but there will be side quests, as well as major quests. The major quests will be events that will significantly aid the player in the long run. Side quests are mainly for treasure and XP, and there will be random encounter quests just for gold or potions. Major quests will often allow more powerful items to be purchased as well.
Let the discussions go from here.
