I wasn't really trying to discourage this, I just thought it would be nice to have this to be judged by influence, not by animation quality. For example if you look at the poll with Endo and Zhu, Endo is winning. Endo is good, but to say he was as influential as Zhu was is ridiculous. Zhu practically made stickfigure animation what it is today, Endo is creative, but he has not shaped the community the same way Zhu did. The competition ultimately comes down to who made the best recent animation, not which author was the most influential.

Well, that's going to be impossible. Everybody is going to vote for Terkoiz, so there's no point to this if everyone is going to vote for one guy.

i love how a thread meant to be like the Oscars turned into an argument of whether people would vote for terkoiz or hyun. it's the people's decision.

Gunnii, I encouraged people to do that from the very beginning. It's the called the Lifetime Achievement Awards but people don't get it. :( Too young, too innocent lol Hmmm.... I should really make it more obvious in the next polls.

Lagant, I used a random number generator. :) None of the match-ups were decided by me.

Oh, and yes, just in case I didn't make it clear enough yet, I'm going through with this. :)

I didn't say I was a fanboy, smartass. I like other animators too, ya know. I"m just saying he's really good. Is there a problem to encouraging someone? God damn it man... -_-

Kinda disappointed at most of the results. Plus, I have a gut feeling that most of these polls or match-ups are unfair at a certain extent. For example : LuccasBode vs. Miccool. They both focus on completely different elements. Luccas is an idol for us a 3D animator while we idolize Miccool as the master of SPFX. Of course we would vote Miccool because we know that he overpowers Luccas.

Another bad example I do not like is Godmouth vs. Terkoiz, both focusing on different elements of emotion and feeling. Godmouth has that cinematic feel and that deep moving emotion that makes his videos very intriguing and appealing. Terkoiz focuses on that of angles and action, which is completely cliche and reasonable. Terkoiz overpowers Godmouth due to more activity and action videos.

Peter Satera vs. Oxob3000, both having two completely different experience. Peter Satera has knowledge of 3D and modeling while Oxob3000 is known for powerful, varied videos. Oxob overpowers because of his activity and effects in 2D.

PL vs. Jombo, both who have different styles. PL has that smooth brush action going in his videos and his effects make him an easy idol. Jombo has that style of snap and pop with that goofy feeling that makes his videos funny and awesome. PL overpowers because of his effects.


All of this is in a matter of opinion. There are other polls that I'm also disappointed with, but I don't wanna rant too much to the point that I become completely obnoxious and be flamed at by fanboys. I would consider myself a fanboy of Terkoiz, Hyun, Pluto, Oscar, and others. But, these polls just makes it completely unfair and I can't vote for any of them.

Actually this entire thing is unfair. Most people vote by popularity, not by their animation skills.

For example: I will say that if there were PLasmaghost and Terkoiz, I will vote for plasma since his animation is so fluid, better with special fx than Terkoiz, and badass with fullbody. But everyone will mostly likely vote Terkoiz cause he is more popular than plasma.

Isn't that kind of the point of all this? I agree that this poll is no where near flawless, but the basis of this award is to see who had the largest impact on the animating society. In that sense, things like "differentiating styles" are not as emphasized and focused on.

As for the people voting based on popularity, that's more of the voters' fault than the actual organizer.
