Fine.
Good idea. I don't see why people are complaining. Either pay for the movie yourself or pay overage charges. Go **** a duck.
Choose a plan with more usage? Good idea. Charge people who go over that plan? Good idea.
The only thing that could possibly be wrong with this is if the company advertises unlimited internet and then charges people.
Otherwise. Fine. Good idea. There's no reason to complain.

That's only a valid argument when you assume that all the people downloading movies and such are doing so illegally. Many people download large files that are perfectly legal. In some cases, the internet is the only place for certain movies.

Wow. I will be so pissed if this happens. People like me who are on the internet one way or another definitely use a lot of bandwidth. I sure don't want to pay gay ass overage charges.

And do you have to watch said movies? Probably not.
I'm just saying. You use more you pay more, you use less you pay less.
It's only unfair when it's being advertised as more than you get.

I'm always on the internet. I'll be pissed if AT&T does this.

It says in the article that just downloading and viewing a high-def movie from netflix can use up to 5 Gigs. Don't you think that is a little ridiculous to have to possibly pay extra for things that you bought legally?

Sure you don't HAVE to, but you were speaking as if the people who were downloading the movies weren't paying for them. I was saying that your layout of possible choices was incorrect.

They put a 2 gig cap on mine. I think I went over, and it's only halfway through the month. Those bastards.
But as much as I am butthurt, it makes sense. But what ever happened to fibre optics? I mean sure, it costs more, but there would be so much extra bandwidth that it wouldn't be a problem. The speeds would be amazing, too.
Then again, I suppose most people can't afford that, either.

Wow you only got a 2 Gig cap? Thats like nothing.

Yeah, it makes me want to shit on babies, ejaculate on kittens, put em in a blender and pour the concoction down my asshole and inject the leftovers into my eyeballs.

Fiber optics doesn't relieve the stress on the internet providers, it just transmits signals insanely fast (at the speed of light).
I don't agree with this. It's going to be exactly like telephone providers charging for minutes and raping people once they "overuse".

Well, in about 5 years I'll be on the Grid instead, so it'll be loads faster and cheaper eventually.

Except you can fit a lot more information into a little bit of space, so there would be more bandwidth.
Either way, they're gonna **** over the internet. I still hate this 2 gig cap, I think my father is going to be paying 50 bucks this month as opposed to about 25, which means I am going to be paying. :|

Given that the internet hasn't been around for a drastically long time, I'm not surprised at all at these supposed changes.
I'm expecting later in life I'll be able to tell kids about how things are now with the internet, and they wouldn't believe me. Everything is so open and free with the internet now that there's no reason not to start cracking down on a few things, and quite frankly I'm more surprised that they're just starting to do it
Either way, my ISP runs out of the basement of some office building in Elgin, so I don't have much to worry about. I'm more worried over the fact that they can remotely access my computer whenever they want and track my internet history without notice.
