That's not a mythological creature.
That's a damn beast. A roaring, vicious beast that will eat you dead and spit you out alive.

Medusa and her sisters, Stheno and Euryale, were all (and the only ones) considered Gorgons. It's because they all have snakes on their heads and can turn people into stone.
So yes, Gorgons do have snakes on their heads.
