Just a topic about what is to/might come on this website in the future like comps and whatnot. So, are there any competitions of any kind coming soon on SP? Anything you would personally want to happen here in the near future? Share your thoughts here! I think Friday Funk is quite good, it's a weekly thing so it keeps things flowing I guess but I think there should be something bigger to look forward to. Like say the freaking RHG Tournament. Now, this isn't some topic to beg the admins to host an RHG Tournament but I (and I'm sure many others) sure as hell do wish that it would happen. SP needs an invigorating boost of new top quality animations that people are actually willing to finish. It doesn't have to be a straight on death match tournament but it could be any sort of event that encourages competition so people are motivated to animate. You don't need big prizes to attract people, you don't need anything except to just host the damn thing.

We animate so we can get better at what we love doing but I don't see anything other than the very rare feature animations, scrappy shorts and unfinished RHG demos and battles. Instead of accommodating these habits, we should strive to keep creating better things (if & when we have the time, yes I understand) and stop procrastinating, stop thinking about what to animate, and just do it. Do the first thing that comes to mind and then elaborate on that initial raw concept of what popped up in your head. The same should go for the competitions. Remember the old days when people used to animate for the sake of animation and creativity? We don't need so many cash prizes in these competitions. Once in a while would be more than enough. All we need is a regularly hosted decent community event that many people participate in and have fun. I feel like this whole new money thing in comps gets in the way of the huge passion for animation and just basically dominates the minds of guys involved, which would then lead to all their motivation seeping away leading to them making a half-assed piece of shit. I get that money is meant to motivate people to win even more but in the end, it's not the same as animating something for the joy of it and the glory of coming out on top. Think about it.

and yet here you are, ranting instead of leading by example.

Stone is constantly organizing things and he has some ideas planned for the future. if you want to organize a tournament yourself nothing is stopping you.

For one, Stone has been really concentrating on organizing DDC3, so I'd expect that to be the closest event revealed at this site.

Well, I've asked Stone about the old Gladiator Games that happened at FA, and asked him if I could bring it back, bu he said that he might bring it back soon.

DDC3 is underway! RHG tournament is a bit to 'heavy' for everyone participate in. I will try to do another comp in the future but for now we'll stick with the next ddc installment :}

I don't really care what the next competition is as long as it comes soon.

Haha alright good to hear stone! Yeah I suppose it was a little abrupt how I just came in and made a topic like this. This was also a little thing I was saying to myself as well, but instead just thought I'd post it up anyway. I didn't mean to be a hypocrite or anything though. Also _Ai_ , I didn't have time to animate in the past couple of months because of school so unless I gave up at least a few hours to animate, I couldn't have done anything worthy enough to submit.

Show some initiative and start something yourself!
I'm sure that Stone wouldn't mind giving some support whether it be prices or whatnot if you show that you would be capable to successfully organize and host a competition blowing more life into the community. As Exilement said, lead by example, make your competition and don't be afraid to ask others to help, if your not an obnoxious little cunt the worst that will happen is they say no.

I didn't know you could create your own comps. Only collabs, I knew of. If that's the case then I'm happy to start one. Lol, like the new title.
