Hey, making a choice doesn't require true free will. That decision would be based on the pros and cons of each, the state of your body (Hungry, thirsty, hyper, tired, etc), the memory of what has served you well in the past, whether your genes make you enjoy eating as an activity, and hundreds of other variables.

i was reading some random thing and it turns out, you acually use 100% of your brain in diffrent ways.
Jun 27, 2008 7:51 AM #169268
no. we really do only use 10% of our brain (whether that be different parts all around the brain - it still adds up to around 10%). maybe the rest is just mush :p but seriously as a religious person, i believe that when armageddon comes those parts of the brain become unlocked, and we shall know more about God and life than ever. and please, no flames to this. people are allowed to have their own views, as i know most on here are atheists and i respect that, so please respect my views.

Um...could be possible.
I know that the seventh gate of Psi or chakra as said in Indian knowledge of yoga and medetation, and maybe be able to actually use your brain in physical action or have complete control over you Unconciousness which is hard to balance and unlock. But I'm not a big beleiver in that, I just know it.
However our brain takes almost all the energy that we consume, becuase the cells are preforming Phagocytosis by the carier protiens which consume more energy, the cells are moving and eating in non stop action so maybe that could relate to why we use only 10% of it, and a probability is that we might get killed if we over use our brain or over work it...I'm not an expert but I'm sure there's a reason.

Actually jrock, we do use 100% at a time, but it's divided over all the things we do like breathing, processing images from our eyes to our brains, thinking about things and all other unconcious stuff. And the thing we choose to do, like typing, what I'm now doing or picking up a sandwich to eat it, is used with 10% of the resting power your brain has. That's why blind people usually hear better and deaf people usually see better. It's because their brain can use more energy for those parts.
What I actually meant to ask was; what if we could use more than 10% of our brain from what we are given to choose to do?
Probably we'd have to shut down certain areas of our brain and we might not survive, but what if?

Then your brain would probably be More highly functional, like thinking about three or four things at the same time plus as you said, we might be able to see, hear and sense better and don't forget our memory and calculations.

Quote from gyohdonNow as many know, we all use 10% of our brain at a time, right?
So I have been wondering, what would happen if we used the other 90% too?
Maybe this triggers the 'power' that psychics or mediums have..
Or could it trigger something as actual levitation, or maybe even some sort of telekinesis?
I'd like to hear your thoughts on this.
I thought it was 10% of our brain power

Sure people are allowed to have their own views, but seing as this is a DEBATE, I will form a rebuttal.

Please, if you are trying to correct someone, do so with more than a "no you're wrong". Post a link for proof.
but seriously as a religious person, i believe that when armageddon comes those parts of the brain become unlocked, and we shall know more about God and life than ever.
Why do you think that? Last I checked, your God didn't like humans to have knowledge.

Noone's flaming. This is the debate section, so if you don't want your views challenged then don't post here.

Lol, Ash. I really admire your ability to put up with that.
I believe there's this invisible, undetectable blob of dark matter and dark energy inside our noses.
When we meditate and unlock the connection to it, we exploit this mix of darkness and become semigods. At that point we can do everything except implode the multiverse.
Because then the dark matter would cease to exist, causing the semigod state to reverse and turning us into midgets.
