Hi guys! Not sure if this is the right place to post this, but the main subforum description said "If you have a question"
So here's a question..
Does anyone know of any animation software or plugins that allow two animators or more to animate into the same file at the same time in order to make collaborations? Basically, are there any animation tandem tools?
It would be great if there were :3
Thanks!

To make those kinds of collaborations (we called them "joints" here). We animate our part (just a few seconds), and then we gi e the fla to our partner to react to our movements and animate a few seconds more, and then he/she gives us back the fla and so on...
That's the only way to do it.

The only way to do it, so far...
Do you know about any plans for real time joints?

There're no programs/softwares to do it in real time, sorry.

Maybe you can do that if you and your partner opened a online camera which featuring your screen and him and you should have the same file and talk w/him using Xchat or something.

I'm not aware of any programs that have this feature. It's kind of a cool idea though. It could make for some interesting collaborations, especially if you used a microphone to talk as you work. You'd need to be able to each work on different frames though, otherwise it would basically suck.
Passing the file along or working on separate files and then putting them together are the only ways to collaborate at the moment though, as far as I'm aware.

That would basically mean that if user A saves a .fla then the file will be uploaded to a server and then user B will have it downloaded into his system and when he saves, it will overwrite the one in server and so forth in REALTIME. Thus, if the .fla is big, say 50mb, it will take a hell lot of time to do that. Unless you have a high speed motherfucking internet bandwidth.

It would need to be some network based equivalent of flash or something, storing the data on a server for both people to access and modify at the same time (like flockdraw, but with frames). If it's something similar to flash, the objects library, with symbols, movieclips, sounds and whatnot (stuff that increases the file size a lot) especially would all need to be stored on a online. But it would be simplest to avoid using symbols too much, and just use a brush and maybe layers to animate.

or it could save onto both the computers seperately

Or maybe it could download new items and frames from the server like the antivirus downloads the update. This way the system could check for any existing item and skip that item's download and download only the new items. So, it doesn't matter whether your .fla is 5mb or 150mb, it will sync itself to download the latest items only.
But idk if same could be said for uploads too or not.

Okay, here's what you do. Have your friend animate on a stool.
Then. Sit behind him, wrap your arms around his waist, and just run your hands over his arms to let him know it's you and not to be scared. When he warms up to you, ease your hands over his, and just animte. Together. As one.
Optional: Whisper gently into his ear "We're doing it, baby."
But yeah other than that, it's just pass and play like always.

We'll need a teleporter for that first.

Pretty much.
Maybe one could incorporate the multiplayer systems of games or something into flash :|
