Are you fucking daft? You think I don't know how much my friend suffered? I barely even told you half the story. This close friend was also the girl I had been chasing for the majority of my life (yes, the friend zone is real and it hurts), and she got raped by her older brother. It damaged her for life; she basically lost all self-esteem and became a major slut.

Not getting offended by a fucking word on the internet doesn't change how fucking furious I am that this happened. Like I said b4 if you think rape jokes are wrong fine, nobody is judging you. But what gives you the right to make moralistic judgments on what's right in the world. You don't have an authoriteh and I can tell over the magic of the internet that you've have done something offensive in your life before. You don't have to accept it, but you do have to tolerate it because if you want people to respect you, then you should show the same.

Words get their meaning from the intent behind them. If you get offended by a word which is not intended to cause offence then you are imposing your own meaning onto some letters and then getting angry at the person who put the letters there.

You could argue that "rape" is a word which can bring back some horrible memories for some people, but the same is true of "death" and that's going to come up a lot in the RHG section. We just have to hope that when it does affect people they realise that the word was never meant in that way and it's not something they should be offended by.
