October 27, 2013 -- ######## Veterinary Hospital, ______ City, XX
Shirley is sitting on a bench in the main hallway of the hospital. It's been three days since they started operating on her, they said that today is the day she will see her again, either as good as new or as a tragic cadaver with wires sticking out of its head. The waiting is unbearable, it's been 15 minutes and she is starting to get worried. Suddenly the door to the operating room opens and a group of medical staff emerge from within. They all stop a few meters in front of her as the person in the middle makes an announcement.
"Everybody thought it cannot be done, some of us included but we persevered, we held on to whatever thin string of hope given to us. Consider yourself fortunate, this is the last operation, the last anything we'll ever do as this company will receive various legal actions and enter bankruptcy in a fiery blaze of glory. Your beloved cat, Layla, is a living testament to defying the odds no matter how bleak it is. She is revived with the very pinnacle of modern medical science never seen before including enhanced bionic extremities, durable omni-compounded synthetic fibers, a toolbox of essential utilities and a new cranial unit that can best a coalition of American and Japanese supercomputers. This might be too much for a young girl like you so let's just say she is the same as before but more, I'm sure you'll appreciate our efforts."
As soon as he finishes his statement the people around his started applauding the success of the operation. When the applause stops he opens his legs enough to let the cat through, looking exactly the same as before except for a change in her eye color and fur patterns. Seeing her again was enough to bring tears in Shirley's eyes, in everyone's eyes (bar the cat's bionic eyes) as she cuddles her as tight as she could.
"I missed you so much, so much..." she cries, "It's good to see you again."
"It's good to see you too, Shirley. Come on, let's go home." Layla replies with a distinctively human voice. This completely surprises Shirley, her cat speaking back to her? Is this even real life? Her eyes are crying tears of joy, she just couldn't believe it. Her cat is talking right in front of her! Just like the cartoons! Layla is just as emotional as her and returns her affection, "It's okay, Shirley, I would be crying too if I was in your place."
Soon, the duo will be doing great things as fate conspires everyone extraordinary to do so. Layla will save people's lives on numerous occasions, Shirley will bring back the veterinary company that helped her at her time of need and the duo will always stand side by side. But before anything happens, all journeys begin with a small step and that is to go back home and enjoy the rest of the afternoon.

Here's some music that would go well with the movie version's trailer.
So my first spur-of-the-moment written piece is completed, I think it took me two hours. Anyways, I was actually quite close to shedding a tear because I was so touched while imagining scenes during the song's chorus. Unfortunately I can't describe even half of those scenes so there's that.
CnC please, it's been forever since I last wrote something this big.
