I've been on the fence lately on whether I should save up the money to buy a decent tablet or stick with using my mouse. I love animating, and would be bold to say it's a hobby I'd like to continue throughout my life; however, I get frustrated at times because I literally have no flow in my attack sequences. It's a stop-and-go rape fest that I think can be cured with a tablet. A lot of the great animators on stickpage use tablets, and their animations are smoother than the Jack Daniels. Basically, I'd like a comparison between the two animating styles, possibly an example of both, and your thoughts on tablet vs mouse.

Use search before posting threads :p

Depends, if you animate with line use mouse. If you animate with brush use a tablet.

Most people i know though, use tablets mostly for effects.

a tablet isn't a magic tool that immediately cures you of any bad habits in animating

it makes things easier to draw, yeah, but if you can't animate fight scenes with a mouse, doing so with a tablet won't raise the quality of anything. if i were in your position i would keep at animating with a mouse and making some improvement, deciding on whether or not to buy a tablet afterward

The problems you are having have nothing to do with a tablet or not.You just need practice.

I agree with Timford. I don't have a tablet myself, but I can't afford one, so I animate with the mouse instead. Honestly, I works pretty well once you get the hang of it. Just keep on using the mouse and It will help you improve.

The tablet is great tool but it isn't for everyone. It takes time getting used to not looking where you draw. But it did help me get better.

Question: What happens if someone give you a tablet? What would you do?

I'll just run to my laptop and start doing some shit, and go to facebook, forums, twitter and all those other stuff then post saying "LOOK AT MY NEW TABLET >:D"

We're not talking about that right now, Harvie.
