"And so Kalena beat the pencil pusher with the ol' one-two before the school plunged back to Earth and crashed. She was saved however by her ominous Host and brought to the next round. It was a glorious stone maze of---"

"Wait, what happened to the other guy? P-Penci-Penciliyam, was it?"

Hewitt paused, as he slammed the storybook shut. He knew there was nothing in there Luna wanted to hear. He knew what had really happened to those that failed The Host's expectations. But there she was eagerly anticipating the fates of her fallen heroes. How could he ever let her down?

"That's a very interesting question, kiddo. You see...,"

Theme
Welcome everyone! This Round's theme is called Once Upon a Time and in a moment you will see why.

Remember when I said that this Round doesn't perpetuate points for the Hall of Warriors? Well, this Round of the Loser's Bracket takes place in Original Literature because you're going to help me out. You see, Luna wants to know what happens to all the other fighters who lose or came late. Unfortunately, I don't have the heart to tell her that The Host keeps them locked in their imaginary cells and fucks with their minds for all eternity, all the while torturing their flesh and reviving them again and again to eternal agony. She's only like, 9 years old or something. No, we're going to spare her the horrors of adulthood by making things more...PG. The Q&A will answer all your questions (but feel free to ask some more)

What exactly am I suppose to write?
- For this Round, you'll be fighting each other alright, but not in the way Hewitt narrates it to Luna. You'll be writing a Children's Fairy Tale version of what your actual battle would be...basically a toned down kid-friendly version. Your story must be told in a narrative style much like something out of a Children's Book. It MUST begin with the phrase "Once Upon A Time..."

Aren't battles supposed to be violent? What do we write in place of that?
- You must weave a tale concerning both you and your opponent's wRHGs getting over a particular conflict together. This conflict CANNOT be a battle. It can be a non-fighting competition like a race or a sport. It can be something else common to Children's Literature like Imaginary Monsters Under Your Bed during a sleepover, a childhood crush, another friend's birthday party where one of them wasn't invited, etc. Get creative.

Okay, can we at least go a little grimdark on it? Like Tim Burton or Neil Gaiman?
- Yeah. Of course! Kids like creepy stuff too so why not. Just make sure that it isn't too edgy. We judges reserve the right to call your work too adult.

What age exactly are we going for here? What constitutes as being "Too Adult"? And can we put Adult Themes if it works?
- The general range is 8-11. If you have a cousin or sibling around that age then they should be able to understand what you write and appreciate it. That means, you can't use complicated or bad words, or utilize complex concepts and situations. Too Adult is basically Violence/Sex/Drugs/Alchohol etc. They can be implied to the point that if an Adult reads it they'd get it but the kid shouldn't be exposed to it directly. We'll also be the judge of that.

Does my story have to connect with the Introductory Flavor text?
- No. That's just Flavor :D

Got Tips?
- You were a kid once (or are still one). What did you like to read and watch back then (and now I guess)? Goto your local bookstore and check out some kid books to get you inspired. Simple plots are always the best to work with although sometimes you can engage with more advanced themes like Divorce or Death in the Family. It's up to you.

Mechanics
To non-newcomers, this should be familliar to you but I will recap for the sake of everyone. Like its precursor, the Loser's Bracket also relies on a Point System to determine the victor of each round. Whoever has the most accumulated points at the end of each Round wins. Let's go over these Mechanics one by one shall we?

Votals - Natch. In every voting period after both entries are submitted, every vote is worth FIVE POINTS.

Ante - These are "miniwagers" you can take on if you think you're losing just because of popularity power. For this round, Ante's will add an extra element for you to write about in addition to your objective. Scoring is as follows: you take an Ante you have to work with and bet 5/10/15 points. If you fail to achieve it, you'll lose that much. If you succeed, you'll get 10/20/30 points in return! There will still be three categories: Easy/Medium/Hard. Your opponent cannot take the same Ante type as you (both of you can't go easy at the same time). Also, every Ante is different for everybody; an easy for you may not have the same conditions as an easy for another guy.

Bonus Wins - In addition to the current objective of the Round, there will be an extra Bonus Win condition that is constant for all the Rounds. Points for this Bonus element will always be constant: TWENTY POINTS.

CNC Benefits - Competitors will get TEN EXTRA POINTS for every battle in this tournament they CNC. They must both vote AND comment why they voted for that person. It could be as simple as just liking some specific thing. CNC Points will not count if the comment is vague or unhelpful and you can only CNC a maximum of THREE times. Moreso, if the cnc is extremely detailed, explaining more than just one thing, the cnc-er will get an EXTRA FIVE POINTS.

Judge's Favor - In any of the votable threads in any round, if any of the three judges has deemed an entry very exceptional, fully utilizing the environment given to him, he will recieve Me or acute's blessing by announcing so. A judge's favor grants an extra FIFTEEN POINTS to your current score. Please note that when the judges vote in your battle that is NOT the blessing, but rather we will declare it in a separate post. The blessings also come when the Rounds are ending to prevent favortism or bias.

Rules
1. On the bottom of this post you will find this round's bracket as well as the conditions and theme which may or may not alter how the round will play out.

2. You must first post here as a sign that you are still alive and active with the following:
Post this (Click to Show)

3. You may then begin writing your entry as usual. You may then post it in this thread as well when you're done. IN SPOILERS. Please DO NOT make your own thread. No googledocs. No textuploaders. You must. Post it here.

4. As soon as I have both entries of the same bracket, I will put up a voting thread in the battles section and the voting may commence. If your opponent fails to produce an entry and post here, he/she will be forced to forfeit and the other guy will move on to the next round!
4.5 If you do not acknowledge yourself in this thread in the next 4 days, the bracket will shift to appropriate an opponent to fight with to prevent easy byes. Latecomers will then recieve deductions of 20 pts no matter what.

5. Aaaand that's it. You have until a week and a half from now AKA August 9, 2013 to post all your entries. The deadlines for the polls themselves will be a week from whence they are posted.

"Once Upon A Time" Loser's Bracket for Round 1:

Ante's Updated and Listed below:

Nikx232 vs BirtDog*
Nikx232 (Hard) - Remember when I said you couldn't introduce edgy violent themes? In this Hard Ante, you must introduce at least one and justify it. To reiterate these themes are drugs/alcohol/violence/non-consensual sex/etc.
BirtDog (Medium) - As the Narrator of your story, you must break the 4th wall and address the reader throughout your entire telling.

BoomerangReturns vs merich1
BoomerangReturns (Hard) - You are now writing a story for the blind (it may or may not include a blind character). Describe at least 3 colors in your story in a way that will make the blind know what it is without having to see it.
merich1 (Medium) - Both of your characters are now animals. Actual animals and not anthromorphs (animal-people). They still retain the qualities and powers of your and the opponent's wRHG though.

Codincx vs digikid
TyTheGamerGuy (Medium)) - Offer either your character or your opponent's character an offer he/she can't refuse. It should come with a heavy price and he must take it.
Codincx (Easy) - Include a damsel in distress in your story.
digkid (Hard) - Include a Modern twist to an age old idea. Like recent disney fairy tales like Tangled and Frog Prince.

GamerXD8 vs Canis Majoris
GamerXD8 (Easy) - Begin your story with a sunrise. End it with a sunset.
Canis Majoris (Medium) - Incorporate a Mystery into your story that deals with an underground chamber and ghosts. The Mystery must be solved in the end.

Tantalum vs TyTheGamerGuy**
Tantalum (Medium) - Incorporate a Guardian to either of your characters throughout the story. By the end, this Guardian must leave/die.
XJCLW (Hard) - Describe at least 3 Sounds in your story in a way that if a deaf person read your story he would know what it sounded like.

Shadowkirby vs _Ai_
Shadowkirby (Easy) - Have at least 1 talking object in your story.
_Ai_ (Medium) - Set your story during Christmas. Santa Claus must be present in this story in some way.

*BirtDog, as you know, you decided to take on ErrorBlender and Bench as Saintmccaw in the winner's bracket. Unfortunately, while I extended the deadline for that round, I cannot do so for this one. Work something out ^_^

**GuardianTempest's wRHG has been deemed OP and impossible to work with so by default it is Locked out until it can be fixed or its wRHG renewed. Please PM me your new character or the changes thereof if you still want in on this. BUT FOR NOW...the actual battle is just Codincx vs digikid. If Guardy cannot renew his Character in the span of 3 days (Aug. 2, 2013) then he is ejected from this bracket as if he never participated!
UPDATE: GuardianTempest has been kicked. TyTheGamerGuy replaces him.
UPDATE+: XJCLW has been banned from this forum and kicked from the tournament. Ty will now face tantalum and the original threeway is disabled.

Bonus Condition
For this Round, the Bonus Condition is having a Moral Lesson. Out of all the competitors, the TOP FIVE entries with the BEST explained and elaborated Moral Lesson will win the 20 pts. We judges will decide who it will be when the voting period ends. What constitutes as a Moral Lesson? Love. Friendship. Kindness. Obeying your Elders. Hope. Integrity. Values basically. Aesop's Fables for the primary example.

Good Luck!

Titus/Bane vs. Pencillum "The Lead"
http://forums.stickpage.com/showthread.php?73664-Titus-Bane (Sorry hard to do fancy stuff on a phone)

Hard ante, im going all out on this one.

Dammit i was gonna incorporate an addition but it's too violent. But guess what, i have three little siblings so I THINK I may have an advantage here.

Oh, question, since the win doesn't count as a win, would the loss still count as a loss?

I already have an idea in my head.

Interdimensional storybook conflict. YEAH

Question, Hewitt, can you like make it so you transition into multiple storybooks?

Also, can you do like looney tunes violence?
