I love how the video brags about backwards compatibility, online stuff and taking it where-ever you want.
Oh jee whizz, I bet my Nintendo 3DS could never do such great things.

View Profile the culture of iphonism/smartphonism tends to make people think they need to get ever single new product that comes out when in reality the 2DS is meant to gain the marketshare that the 3DS hasn't gotten, continuing Nintendo's Monopoly on gaming handhelds. Since Nintendo hasn't actually come out with advertisements, just the price and release date. People speculate that its in fact for kids because of the lack of the clamshell and 2D, and pokemon release date, when in reality its just much cheaper to create than the 3DS and lower point of entry for handhelds.
Also people see it as a new iteration when in actuality its more like a gameboy micro as it is intended to sell along side it.
Personally, I'm neutral because I quit handhelds after the Gameboy SP. I also don't think it was developed for kids primarily, it can just easily be marketed towards kids like the XL series. It goes along w/ Nintendo's tabletism fad, but its also a more profitable system to sell. My main problem with 2DS getting rid of 3DS is that depending on its install base it might make devs abandon the 3D to cut costs. Its also a technical backstep, which is forgivable since it is not the 3DS' successor, but I believe tech is important.
EDIT: Although, hinges can easily be damaged by kids, I would see the unprotected screen as a concern b/c its only one screen so if you damage either one, then the whole thing can mess up. Also the durability depends on the type of plastic they use and how ruggedized it is.

View Profile i had broken the screen brackets in my old DS. the only thing Nintendo pissed me off about is that i'd have to pay about $500 just for repair.
though i want the 2DS what's the point of it? if it's for not playing in 3D then why buy it when you can just turn the 3D off with the slider on the side of the screen
