From the gameboy to the 3DS, this urban legend prevails. You know what I'm talking about: the saying that if you hold the A/B buttons or mash them while throwing a pokeball, you increase the chances of catching pokemon. This poll isn't about whether it's true or not. I wanna know if it's so prevalent that to this day does anyone do this out of habit?

I find myself switching all the time from mashing the A button to holding it down in a rhythmic pattern for some reason.

I always threw the pokeball, then threw my gameboy away until i gathered the courage to see whether or not it was successful. I didnt fuck around with my pokemon games.

I don't push the buttons, I wiggle the dpad to the rythm that the ball is shaking in. I know it doesn't work but it makes me feel more comfortable :P

I found myself alternating between the a and b button timing it according to the rocking of the Pokeball. Did it help? No idea. But it did help to relieve tension.

I always used to shake my Game Boy up and down like an idiot when I used a pokeball.
Now, I like I draw little circles around the ball in the DS games.

Being the hardcore Pokemon fan, I know that it doesn't do anything at all. For some weird reason though, I find myself doing exactly that. I'm not sure why.

I've never owned a Gameboy. I've only ever played on my PC, on an emulator. And I've never mashed my buttons for that.

Mash the A button. It may be because of my childhood tendency or belief that it worked.

I've always felt that it was completely pointless to mash the buttons, whether it's the A, B, D-pad, touch screen, etc.

But I won't lie, I've noticed here and there when I get really excited about my chances of catching (especially since I only catch legendaries with poke-balls), my thumbs will just start mashing on their own.
