Three things replays need-
1) Less lag
2) (not as important) A scroll bar
3) THE ABILITY TO BE MORE THAN 15 MINUTES LONG!

To find out why I'm so annoyed with the third, follow this link, and go to comments number 695- 698.

replays unlike videos, redo the entire match on your computer, so I don't think reducing lag is that simple. in other words its based on your computer. try reducing the quality and making it normal speed.

your scrollbar is the minimap. use it.

yes

It's funny when still lots of people don't know that >15 mintutes videos can't be watched, seems like they don't care about the replays and stuff

I meant to select the different parts of the battle.

Not a scroll through space, a scroll through time. (Insert super wise jedi face here)

Just a handful of replays. Generally, replays more than 15 minutes can't be watched. So maybe there's a problem somewhere

A scrollbar is near impossible to implement from a programming standpoint.

He doesn't mean a scroll bar, like the thing on the right of this page. He means a bar like youtube videos have, so he can skip or rewind to a certain time.

Yeah, I know what he meant, I just didn't pick the right word.

Most RTS replays work by just shoving back in the mouseandkey events processed during the game at the right times and letting the simulation run accordingly. It's hard to "fast-forward" or "skip through" something like that, as it's not a video, it's actually being calculated real-time as you are watching it.

Maybe they could make a record match option, so that you could choose if you match is recorded. This will prevent lag for the main suggestion...
If it is recording, it could keep track of the time. Every minuet, the program would make a note in its replay code. That way, you can skip to the late game action without having to watch a bunch of swords run around.
