Recently, I have been seeing a lot of people with a similar strategy. It is basically a form of giant mass that seems much harder to counter than the normal variations. Aside from the first units they buy to stay alive early game, they first save up for a meric, then get a giant and meric together. This combo can tank SOOOO much damage, especially since its only about 7 or 8 minutes in. Next, they begin to get a few more giants, usually two, and then another couple of merics. End result- tanking mayhem. Thankfully, this strategy is easy to counter if detected early, as two shinobi and four spearton can handle the combo. However, it is a respectable strategy, and quite deadly if the initial build is completed.

That's...basically what a giant mass should be. Meric, Mage, Giant. If someone's giant massing, that should be their composition...if they're going pure giants, they're doing something wrong.

Yes, but most giant masers go defensive in the beginning. Ill try to find a replay to show you what I mean.

what if there were two gients and all the other population(not including miners) were merics? imagine what that would be like to fight.

That's easy. Just get a Giant and 2-3 Mages and the merics will go poof.

okay, maybe you should also have a mage/a few spears with you in order to keep your guys alive. and I meant the army i came up with, not your counter.

I don't get it? You mean the army of 2 giants and a bunch of merics? I think I dont need spears; they die to giants quickly. 1 Giant and a few mages are enough.

I just get myself 3 or 4 Magikill. Even if they get one Shadowrath they never get enough to assassinate all my Mages. I just spam electric wall after. Here's a replay, if it even still plays:
It was one of these two :P

4 mages cost 2k Gold, 1.6k Mana, 20 Pop.
4 shadows cost 1.8k Gold, 600 Mana, 16 Pop.
Something tells me getting 4 mages won't work...
