Don't be afraid to lose rating. If your level is that rating, then it's that. If you're not, wether you play or not, you'll drop even if you play or that. Playing on an alt destroys it altogether.

Quote from DragonArcherZI just want to put out there right now that if you're going to use an alt account to practice, you're going to drop. Simple as that. You're not going to be improving if you're scared to lose rating; if you can't keep your rating consistently there it means you're not *actually* of that level. If you rank hard, eventually you're going to move up. If you rank on alts, you'll vs players lower level than you, meaning you won't be used to the skill level of your main, and once your alt hits your main level, well, why not just rank on your main? Simple as that.
Don't listen to Shadow's advice of practicing on an alt. The only way to improve quickly is to rank hard and fast on your main.
Well, there are some good points :/ But alts arent really this bad, like Jerrytt already said...well, then not practise with alt:/ but another point (and i think a better) would be to practise with a friend, or if ya want more join a clan, there should be some good players ^_^

If alts are bad...
Why do you see Wyzdm using all those alts? I think it honestly doesn't hurt to have an alt for testing out new stratagies, ones that would get you ridiculed if you tried it on your main.

He stops using them awhile ago. And he just focuses on one account now, which you can see in the leaderboards. Plus, he used them because it takes too long to get a match, being on top. You can get bored, you know.
And why'd you test strategies that you would think would ridicule you? Is it THAT bad? If so, don't even bother.

@ epicsOUL lol, if your quetion was actually "how many miners and co. should I have"....well it also depends on map size. For me, i always try to have on mid-late game 10 on gold 3-4 on mana....after your pop is full sacrifice some miners. (I know, poor miners :/) well, thats for mid-long map for me...on short, you shoulda focus on army then on eco, but you shouldnt let your eco down...always try something like miner+swords, miner+sword....etc. for this you should got good eco and good beginning army ^_^ also dont forget about other things like try-to-take-the-middle-tower, harresement, tech-up, etc.

One account? and is that account his top account? If not then that kinda goes against what you said about being at the right rating.
What if I wanted to test the viablility of Albow massing? im not gonna fricken do it on my 2450 account. Im not going to try new strategies that I have not yet tested well on my highest account. Thats what my alts are for, and also practicing while shedding off my rust that I may have accumulated from not playing a few days in a row.
Again, once your alts hit your general rating level, there's really no difference in the opponents that you play.

Have you ever heard WyzDM talking about why he uses his alts? He mains one account, and if you've ever noticed, he never uses more than a few accounts at a time. The only time when he shitspams his alts out of there is when he was doing his montage, but after that he had a hard tilt and had to rank back up. Don't believe me? Ask him yourself in the TZ IRC.
Sure, you can use alts to test some strategy, try to go for a 100/0 streak, or other things. But remember the argument; we're arguing about improvement. And the fastest way to improve is to rank hard on your main and analyse your replays. Not go muck around on your alt with a strategy; you've changed the topic.

I would agree to use alts in a battle, they can be effective with the right backup, but don't shitspam them like DragonArcherZ said here.
