Does tea trump coffee in the UK? And is tea like srs business as a drink there? Like it actually causes heartburn or something other to the uninitiated.

Some people like coffee, but they're mostly immigrants. That is by no means to say that most immigrants drink coffee. I'd say we convert the majority.

It's not like you're not a MAN if you don't drink tea, but there are some discussions about the correct way to make it. I'd say the fiercest debate is over whether the milk should be added to the cup before or after the tea itself (which of course should brewed separately in a teapot - of course you can't add the milk before the water if you're just mixing it all together in a mug like some kind of yank). George Orwell had a highly controversial 11-step process http://orwell.ru/library/articles/tea/english/e_tea . Of course, his note about how tea should always be loose in the pot rather than in a bag is no longer relevant - teabag technology has come a long way these past fifty years.

That man is an inadequate representative. Not because he said much that was wrong, but he looked like a complete dickhead.

The American is also inadequate. That's like saying all Britons are chavs and all 'Muricans are pansy 'smosh'-types.

Anyway, I was born here in Florida but, my family is Cuban and my hometown is 73.37% Cuban-American; highest percentage in the country. Ask anything you want because, trust me shiz is different here.

I'm just sitting here laughing and thinking about the Boston Tea Party. Sorry, go on.

Holy shit Zed, that's alot of steps. You guys do take your tea seriously. Oh yeah, also why is the V-sign the equivalent of a middle finger in the UK? And why has it since died down?

The german don't like their past (considering that Hitler was Austrian). And they don't like the Hitler salute.

It's pretty much the less dickish version, but I still do it when I want to. And I don't know anyone who knows where it comes from.

Allegedly it started during the Hundred Years War with France. The story is that the French used to cut off those two fingers of any captured longbowmen so that they could never shoot again. So the soldiers used to show their fingers to the French as "fuck you" before the battles. I am not at all convinced that it's a true story, but it involves defying the cheese-eating surrender-monkeys so I like it.

I expect it's dying out because of Hollywood.

They do exist. I lived with two of them last year, both second-generation immigrants from London. One was half Indian, half Pakistani, the other was Vietnamese. We didn't get many Asian immigrants until the late 20th century so their kids are just growing up now.

Are you kidding me? Isn't that blasphemy? Zed, please try to tell me whether or not this actually happened because, this worries me.

Actually, it's called the Roman salute(it's Roman) and it used to be used in the States to salute the Flag during school mornings. That stopped happening when the Fascists began using it, though, but, Americans still put their hand over their heart when pledging allegiance and the like.
