I'm worried it is. I haven't recorded stats, but maybe it just gets more active at mid-day to night (EST), as I recall there being ~500 players at a time, now it's around 1-3 hundred.

500 during the summer yeah. Still reaches that number on the op time in the weekends.

Just a little input from a noob... The learning curve now is much steeper than it was when the game was fresh. By that I mean a high 1300 or 1400 player now would be able to beat a 1600 player back then. It is highly frustrating trying to break out of the 1300's when this baseline group is so dam good. The early players enjoyed growth and discovery together and that was fun. Now most techniques and strategies have already been discovered and are out there so discovery for a noobie can be quite frustrating as it is more often through the frustration of being crushed. Add to that the snobbery of a few advanced players and you have a recipe for waning interest.

I hope SE isn't declining. It's a fantastic game and the community for the most part is friendly, but my start hear has been a little frustrating. If it stops being fun or I don't improve then I certainly won't keep playing.

I really liked this game but when school started i guess i stopped playing and now i lose every battle (fail) :,(
Most people will probably start playing when holidays start.

People leave and people come. As others have said, it's school season, and a lot of people here are around that age, I think even the older players like WyzDm's in college too.
Should see a huge boost when Elementals come out though. :D

Me, personally, as much as I would like to play a bunch of video games, I can really only devote myself to a few at a time, and right now the few are Battlefield 4, GTA 5 and Pokemon White 2 (yes, I know I'm behind)

This is because I have school of course, and the classes I am planning on taking don't seem like easy ones, and, for lack of a better term, the work in some of the classes I have now is a bi**h, with the quantity and quality they expect. You can rarely have both!!! Many days I run on 6 or 7 hours of sleep, healthy, right? Well, physically I feel no different, but I'm sure I am going to be in for a doozy some time, probably not though. Although I still get to do the things I want to do when awake and fulfill my responsibilities.

I got a little off-topic here, but oh well, just had to put out some facts/opinions I had.
