Ok I am half way done. Man I am spending most of my time on this round since I have no school for 5 days including weekends!

Edit: 1 question, can the combo be performed on a harmless surface, and then later on the person attacking can turn the ground into a hot surface and slowly burn up the victim, just enough time for the attacker to do his last attack?

I mean I can change a few things to the floor if I can't make the floor hot later on in my part.

As stated on the front page, the WHOLE combo must be on a hot floor. Fighting on a harmless surface would be defeating the point.

Yeah. What this element does though is make things more interesting/harder, and definitely more suspenseful. A hot surface can easily peak the intensity of a battle, and also makes one think creatively on how to execute the stick figures in such a manner that is dramatic and actually more entertaining.

I think the judges will really be leaning on creativity this round when it comes to scoring.

It reminds me of fighting on ice back in bse4, trying to convey slipping into the combo. Challenging stuff.

no it doesnt...
trying to burn youre feet into the combo
it makes little to no sense for me
with ice you slip everybody does
but with "A Hot Surface" ...you burn you just BURN
everyone is in pain and agony NO ONE WANTS TO HIT THE OTHER ONE WHILE BEING IN THIS SITUATION *fact*

Only way to fight while that is being FORCED TO KILL so someone lets you get out of the hot floor.

I asked if I could fight on something that's on fire and at least one of the characters react to the heat of a surface during the combo.
I think that's fair considering it's practically impossible to animate 2 sticks reacting to the heat of a surface constantly throughout.

Im glad i broke my Hand. This special element seems impossible to animate for everyone and seeing as im a beginner, im finding the lack of ability to show elements like fire and reactions but ice is much easier i have done ice surfaces before and sliding in a combo isnt too hard but this. i tryed animating it left handed. i could find movements to clearly show the floor was hot constantly :L

I'm going to be honest and im gonna say MY opinion on the special element,
I that whoever came up with the element didnt think a long time over it,
This element is hard to do, so people (who maybe dont have the skills) might find it impossible.
We are supposed to make 2 sticks fight on a hot surface, atleast one of them needs to react as he is in pain from the hottnes.
But wouldnt a naturel reaction be to get off of the hot stage, i mean if i was a stick and i was put on a hot surface where my feet burn like hades, i would totally forget about the fight and start looking for a way out, isnt this the most natural reaction?
You say we need to get creative and find a way to do it right, but i think that this element is more limiting then motivating, that is a bad thing...
Im not asking to change anything about the element, i just wanted to share my opinion.
And i would like to ask that the person who comes up with the next element ( i know this is a hard job) would consider to make the element animateble for everyone, not only the animators who can do facial expressions to let their sticks show pain...
Dispite all this, im still going to finish my entry :D

i kinda disagree with this, well yeah it's hard, but we can think of other ways to animate, if somebody can't animate fire, why don't use (for example) oven or something?
when fighting on a hot surface, we can do a lot of things to do, maybe making the sticks getting jumpy while battling because their feet hurts or something like that.
no offense in this reply, sharing my thoughts too :)
your opinion makes a lot of sense too, yeah.
