That's the secret that makes underpowered gladiators so successful. It's hard not to make a one-sided battle unless if you help him out through dumb luck or something. Epically enough though, some styles (like the Zetabrand style) can portray him like Master Yi despite his weak swordsmanship.

And yeah, never thought that being weak is such an advantage to entertainment but just like Whiteshadow said, people will just disregard his "unskilled" characteristics and make him strong.
