I'm testing my PC's limits with Skyrim and 40+ mods (so far). Wanna see?

If you're not familiar with Skyrim, it's a fantasy RPG by Bethesda with a beautifully designed open-world with 9 distinct geographical regions spanning about 14 sq miles/37 sq kilometers. If you have a powerful enough computer, you can improve virtually every aspect of the game and make it look extremely realistic, thanks to a massive modding community.

That's what I've been doing lately. Most of the textures have been upgraded to 2k or 4k resolutions with parallax mapping, and I've overhauled more areas of the game than I'd care to list here.

I'm only pushing it as far as my PC can go until the game becomes unplayable, so far I haven't gotten there yet. Indoor areas are still a solid 60 FPS most of the time, averaging around 30-35 outdoors and only dipping to 20 in wide-open areas with very long distance views, so it's still completely playable and I'm still trying to improve it further.

Click any of the images for the full 1920x1080 screenshot.

I'll take requests if anyone wants to see a certain part of Skyrim.

I hope you know about the 3.1 Gb crash limit.
This is looking pretty fucking awesome though, if you are looking for gameplay mods I recommend you check out frostfall.

Do you need an imgur account to view the full album? Clicking it just brought me to that single image.

Looks awesome though. My friend is probably as obsessed as you are when it comes to modding Skyrim. At one point he had over 150 mods installed. Mine is still vanilla, although I might give modding a go once I finish exams this week.

yup, it's 4 gigs on an x64 OS, but either way I'm not even close yet. you'd be surprised by how many of these mods have zero performance effect, most of the RAM goes toward the dense grass and depth of field effect, but I edited the configuration files to keep them relatively low. I can triple the grass density in those screenshots without the game crashing, but it only runs at 10 FPS at the very most.

@cronos, yeah I just noticed, I'm fixing it right now. thanks.

How about shots of the areas with and without the mods? If you can, of course, if not just post the name of the area and I'll just fire them up on Google.

I'm surprised no one has requested this but I'd like to see Blackreach. It looks incredible in vanilla Skyrim (and I play on PS3) and I'd love to see it with these mods on.

On a side note, have you considered photography as a hobby, or just taking screenshots of the landscapes and wild animals in action? These are great and I'd love to see more.

IMO that ENB is god awful, but to each his own. I never understood the obsession with extensive ENBs. Some basic effects are nice, but killing your FPS in favor of needless effects seems pointless aside from stress testing and screenshots.

Try getting Stable uGridsToLoad and ramping that up, but be careful with saving 'cause it can fuck your saves up. It increases the number of cells loaded in the world so you can see much further. It's most noticeable from high up.

Yeah, I lowered it from 9 to 7 to gain a few extra FPS, the difference wasn't really noticeable.

I actually agree about the ENB, I took about 160 random screenshots and these 17 are the only ones that turned out alright. Most of these screenshots are with Project MATSO, the saturation seemed nice at first but I got tired of it after a while. Some of the others might be with realvision or sharpshooter, I was using those for a while too.

Last night I installed k-enb extensive and some custom configuration files, everything seems a lot more balanced now. I'll post more screenshots later today or tomorrow, I think you'll like them more than the first batch. Though I'm still really happy with how the inns look, the lighting and object detail in this screenshot is as good as it gets IMO.

Good idea, I haven't been there yet. I'll do that tonight.

What are your computer's specs, and how much did it all cost? The game looks very nice with all these mods.

Oh nothing special. I just remember people alot. Hobbes and Saline asked pretty much the same thing.

I remember you specifically asked to be named anything the mods wanted and gave you a sig to boot. Then you just disappeared XD
